I do not condone anyone calling Obama a Nazi... and listening to Bawney Fwank tell people off is just as silly. The blind leading the blind...

And, of course, FOX is blasting this all over the place as an affront to this woman's right to be heard and yet another example of the Left trying to squash resistance to "socialized healthcare." *sigh* |

![]() Hey look... some people with opinions!! Over there... See them?! We will always have radicals on both sides of the fence. Finding the worst of the worst is pointless. The media is getting way to caught up in the actualities of what is being said or printed on posters by the extremists instead of focusing on the point of symbolism that a great number of people in America are starting to stand up for their rights. Right or wrong is simply a factor of opinion that is usually biased towards your own point of view. Politicians are less and less interested in what WE want and more and more interested in what THEY want. When you poll a sample population and find under 50% approval in Obamas plan do you get concerned when reports come out saying Dems are going to push it through regardless... because they can? If not then you should. Pushing paper because you can doesnt ever solve anything long term. This needs to be a really well thought out process that should take awhile to really hammer out. Are the Dems getting worried their seats are going to potentially go away in 2010? Is that the rush? If so then what does that really tell you? Somewhere along the line government stopped working for the people. That must change... and during that transition you will have EVERYONE come out of the woods to say their piece. What we should be recognizing is that people ARE speaking more than they have in decades. Please kind in mind that this isnt a Repub/Dem arguement... its a lashing out at the state of our government in general. Blame whoever you want because it really doesnt matter. What matters is that people are tired of being run over by their government. People are realizing that the lines are actually quite blurred... They are seeing that one man is essentially the same as another. Promises (even with such sweeping grass roots desire for change) are being broken like the typical standard they always have been. Politicians 1 Public 0

^Great points but there are still ideologues on the left that scare the crap out of me, so-called "progressives" whose ideas would inch us ever closer towards third world status.

So, yeah, try to pigeonhole me as one of those people who believe only certain people should be allowed to have opinions and/or that only opinions I agree with are valid, but that is not the case. These people are SCARY. That thread is scary but, unfortunately, it is hardly the worst I've seen from these people. And what's even more frightening is the level of hysteria and paranoia I'm seeing from people who were otherwise rational before this election. It is not just the extremists who have gone batshit crazy. It's the whole damned Republican party, or at least the vast majority of it. Again, you obviously are not being exposed to what I'm being exposed to, living right smack-dab in the middle of a whitebread suburb filled with the evangelical right or else you might have a whole different attitude about how out of hand this shit is really getting. | |

Im not stereotyping anyone. I guess Obamas approval ratings regarding the healthcare bill being under 50% means its all the teabagers, extremists, and nutjobs. What were Obamas numbers in the election? How big of a landslide was that again? What are those numbers now. The reality is there are a shit load of people in the middle that did vote for Obama that arent agreeing. So by all means... stay on the left and call anyone with a dissenting opinion a right wing nutjob. The point I am trying to make is that doesnt get us anywhere either. I do live in Texas btw. If you think whitebread burbs outside of Houston are so vastly different than whitebread burbs in Dallas then you might be pigeonholing yourself.

I'm from Dallas. I've only lived in Houston a little over a year. And I believe the reason Obama's ratings are sinking amongst the dems is because we're sick of him dicking around with the Right instead of taking care of business. People are pissed. Watching the dems bicker over this bullshit when this may be the ONLY chance we have of getting real reform pushed through is absolutely infuriating. I know a lot of people who are saying if the dems manage to fuck this up, they will not be showing up at the polls next time. |
