Immigration

The topic's been broached a couple times on here but hasn't had it's own thread in a while. I'd like to know if those of you who are for enforcing the current laws had ancestors who immigrated here, and if they had to deal with the quota system that's been in place since 1924?

Re: Immigration

I have family members that are part of the Mayflower Society and I have others that came over as recently as the mid 1800s so none had to deal with post 1924 legislation. Why would it matter if they did?

The first form of the quota system we operate under now was implemented.

my ancestors were space dust, hydrogen and a ginormous star explosion. So no, we've been here all along.

Silly invisible excretions on a map.

Silly? Borders on maps exist for serious reasons. Wars are fought over those silly lines Nando.

Try crossing one of them without permission and see how silly they are.

they are silly man, from a certain POV

You should know by now that you are the literal one and I am the relativistic one here

as far as the wars, I subscribe to Bucky Fullers non-zero sum game.

well of course, these are ideals. The reality of situations are non-simultaneously comprehended.

Nothing but a giant game, a musical game if you will.

See, thing is Nando, you're only living in this here reality... right now.

Interesting to contemplate but useless in application

I beg to differ, plausible solutions to real world problems maybe gathered by a process of Apophenia. For example a good set of ideas that Fuller was talking about in the 50's and 60's are now being "re-discovered" to solve current global issues.

Let us also not forget that reality is made of what we interact with (the physical world) and what is inside our heads. After all, just about everything we, as humans, have created comes from imagination/necessity or just sheer "AH HAH" moments.

Global issues are driven by demand for resources and a society's ability to secure them with regard to their interaction to others doing the same. The rest are merely methods of accomplishing that basic goal and factors necessary to calculate the procvess.

Re: Immigration

Well shit no one ever said finding global; hell even local solutions, was going to be simple. Things were "easier" when the world was made up of a trip from the cave to the watering hole and back again. It is also a TON easier to be an idealist once the basics are covered, food, shelter etc, etc, etc..

to go back to the thread, immigration; WHAT A CLUSTERFUCK!!!!

To that extend I don't think we'll go anywhere if one keeps with an aristotelean logic of either/or.

Wasn't claiming it was easy... just that the basics can be deconstructed to simple principles.

Being told you have brain cancer and it needs to come out is simple... doing it can be hard
