Republican Rep. Joe Wilson keeps it classy during the Obama speech

Some are asking who was the person yelling "You Lie" out to the President as he explained that illegal aliens would not receive health care
According to the Huffington Post, That person's Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina. I personally thought his outburst, which caused Democrats on the other side of the congressional aisle to boo, was very disrespectful and marks a period of less than classy discourse and behavior.
The bottom line is that it's not part of the heath care reform proposal.
On CNN's Larry King, Senator John McCain said Wilson's outburst was totally disrespectful and that Rep. Wilson should apologize immediately.

*disclaimer* I dont condone his actions mainly because of the 'address to the nation' aspect.

BUT

I wonder if we need more action like this directly to the president almost akin to the old parliament days when shout fests ensued. Not in an out of control manner to the point where nothing gets done but where ideas can be directly called out upon.

Its almost as if the president is the 'untouchable' in regards to direct confrontation by his legislative branch.

Although I will say that his 'liar' comment should have come while Obama talked about this healthcare bill not adding .01 to the deficit. I mean... please... nobody is that stupid.

And much of our feelings on this issue I feel stem from us finding a complete lack of respect for what happened. I do feel it was poor judgement because that was Obamas floor to speak to the nation.

However... This does bring up a good point of what I believe (like I said in my above post) is a lack of ability to 'call out' the president in a direct manner.

He may be our president and deserve the ultimate respect... but that doesnt make him an omnipotent figure who cant be called upon. Maybe that has more to do with catching him off guard? Without a teleprompter or a 'set in stone' itinerary can he not play off the cuff?
