Interestingly enough, Perry wasn't on the jury or otherwise involved in the conviction. The fact is that the jury is in the best position to decide. That's why we have them. He respected the decision of the jury. We don't want our government stepping in and fucking with that proicess. The awful and horrible truth is that we cannot gaurantee that an innocent man will never be executed. We do try to put as many safeguards against that in place as we can.

Exonerated.

What exactly does that mean?

Gonna guess that procedural error rather than fact required reversal. Now that's important, we must follow the rules. However, don't necessarily interpret it to mean that an innocent man was set free.

And... I still recall, though not the specifics, that Ryan did what he did as a big leaving office "fuck you" rather than as any kind of act of justice.
