![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Another blunder by Perry http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...1cf2d2edb.html To bring you up to speed: Perry executed an innocent man in 2004 for an arson that killed his 3 children. Since then, 3 independent reports have been issued by 7 of the nation's top arson experts, calling the investigation "junk science" among other things. The latest report came from the Texas Forensic Science Commission who were due to present their report on Friday in Irving. Perry had a press conference, I think last week, claiming Willingham (the wrongfully executed man) was guilty, and he stood by his decision to not issue a stay of execution back in 2004. Well today, he replaced the head of the Texas Forensic Science Commission. Way to prove your point... fire the expert and replace him with one of your own cronies. What a fucking joke he is making this state appear to be. Please don't re-elect this assbag.

Perry didn't sentence him. A jury (probably) did - if not - then a judge did. All of which took place seven years before Perry was elected. The governor of Texas may only commute/pardon a sentence upon recommendation from the parole board. I am not aware such a recommendation was issued. Perry may not issue such a pardon or commutation sua sponte. So, how is this Perry's fault?

Whether or not this is his fault, he still needs to be tossed out on his ass.

Interesting that Brad is condemning the innocent for failing to pardon the possibly innocent when he could not do so even if he had wished to do so.

sounds like these independent studies should have happened *before* he was executed.

![]() | Re: Another blunder by Perry Kinky actually has a shot this year. He can land on the democratic ticket because there are no strong democrats in the state with a larger support base. This ensures him a solid 1/3 of all the votes in the state. That still leaves him missing about 2/3's of the vote he would need to get elected.....but the republicans are taking care of that. Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Rick Perry are already taking shots at each other and they have started to split the republican party in two. By the time these two are done slinging mud the losers supporters will be so polarized and jaded they wont support the winning Republican candidate. A simple split in the Republican party still isnt enough to get a Democrat elected for governor. Thats where Ron Paul comes in. Ron Paul has stepped up and endorsed Debra Medina for Governor. Ron Paul has a Republican support base in south Texas is beyond dedicated. 11 terms now they have elected him by a landslide and support everyone he endorses. This costs the Republican nominee the entire southern region of the state from Brownsville all the way to Houston. The cherry on top is the strong numbers that Kinky pulled in the last election from farmers, ranchers, and small town rednecks. Those numbers, combined with the entire democrat base should be enough to overcome a weakened diluted Republican base in the next election. So for Kinkys sake I hope Rick Perry and Kay Hutchinson destroy each other over the next year.

In 2006, CNN's Anderson Cooper first covered the Todd Willingham case. Tonight, they are looking again at the case after Texas Governor Rick Perry replaced the chair and two other members of the Texas Forensic Science Commission two days before a now-canceled meeting at which the commission was scheduled to discuss the report. Program Note: Tune in tonight for Randi Kaye’s report on the case. AC360° 10 p.m. ET, 9 PM Central Time. One of the guests on the program tonight is Scott Cobb, president of Texas Moratorium Network.

Perry could have issued a stay of execution, he is just too much of a fan boy of the death penalty to do such a thing. And it was Perry himself who has continually upheld the decision and denied the facts presented by various top arson experts. So yes, Perry very much has something to do with this. He could also theoretically issue an executive order to suspend executions; similar to what other governors have done when there is a huge discrepancy in their judicial system.
