Bro, you just described every previous administration post-WW2. I think it's unfair that you're singling out Obama for all of that (with some being questionable at best).

Here's a few points I would like to counter with

First point - Since WW2, we have done just that in order to protect US interests. We have continued to bankroll the House of Saud just so we have a cheap and plentiful supply of oil.

Second - The U.S. government in the past has supported ex-Nazis before. Gen. Georgios Papadoupolos of the Greek junta in the late 60's did work with the fascists in order to crack down on the Greek resistance. He was courted by the CIA due to his strong anti-Communist credentials. President Alfred Stroessner of Paraguay is also another well-known former Nazi who was a staunch US ally in Latin America...which leads me to the third point you make

Third - Befriending Latin American dictators has been a mainstay of US foreign policy for decades. Batista, Pinochet, Noriega, the military government of Argentina in the 70's...the list goes on

Fourth - Our government helped destroy the longest-running Latin American democracy when it allowed Pinochet to institute a coup-d'etat against the democratically-elected government of Allende Salvador in Chile...and allowed the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Chileans who feared execution under Pinochet's iron fist

True statements all... However, other than the first one... basically all of your examples were done under the covers per se. Plus, I think you give the CIA a lot more credit than they deserve. I watched them in action and I was only slightly impressed. The CIA is quite good at pulling strings to make things happen in various countries that would benefit the U.S. However, they absolutely do not have control of the aftermath. So, they may be able to get something rolling, but they have no control over it once it's moving.

I have to agree with some of [Edit: Vinny's] sentiments though. We certainly seem to be purposely pissing off our 'real' allies and befriending every communist, socialist, and dictator we possibly can. WHY?

You've missed the point of using a hypo... it is a closed analogy precluding other facts used to simplfy an issue in order provide greater clarity.

In any event, the fact remains, Obama went to bring the Olympics back and he failed. You're free to regard that as no slight and I'll disagree.

Not just conservatives, my man. People are cheering because Obama literally thought he would get whatever he wants, even with a majority in the upper and lower house. Then he thought he would get whatever he wants outside of politics. Apparently not.

It is my feeling that the Conservatives are happy because it gives the media one less thing to throw in Obama's bag of accomplishments, if there are any at this point. That guy can cross the street and the media acts like he forged a great policy for the entire world to model after.

As Faranga said, these were secretely done by government operatives with the best interests of the US in mind. It's obviously debatable as to the results of all these undercover operations. That said, the current admin seems to go out of its way in publicly facilitating and befriending some of the more extreme despots on the world stage. I don't understand how undermining Honduras' own constitutional process while simultaneously getting chummy with that extremist next door (Chavez) serves to further American interests.
