proposed french legislation says pictures should be treated the same as text

http://www.time.com/time/world/artic...0.html?cnn=yes

i think i agree.

"When writers take a news item or real event and considerably embellish it, they are required to alert readers by calling the work fiction, a novel or a story based on dramatized facts. Why should it be any different for photographs?" Boyer asks.

I think it makes sense to a point.

'dramatization' for video, or 'touched up' for photos should do just fine.

There's a fine line between "touching up" and "doctoring"
If the "touching up" adds or removes something that changes the history or meaning of the picture, then it ceases to be "touched up" and becomes "doctored"

Take a look at the top 10 doctored photos (link on the same page of the article: http://www.time.com/time/photogaller...924226,00.html)

I couldn't care less about someone removing some wrinkles, etc, in a photo; but adding/subtracting a person or landmark is completely different.

It's defining the line between "touching up" and "doctoring" that is going to be the challange, unless it is blatant, like chopping a bunch of naked politicians in the boat with Putin.

Head shots only don't fall under the "touch up" category, that's your fault for not asking for a full body picture.
