The decision was made 12 days into his presidency. He hadn't done any of those things at that time.

there was time between when he was elected and when he took office. that time is taken into account. not to mention the entire time of the campaign.

I seriously doubt he did near enough to warrant winning the Nobel Prize. You can praise your lord all you want. It don't change the fatc that he won for having big talk and no action.

It was a message to America that if you follow the socialist ways of Europe than they will treat us with pretty shiny things. Flat out he won solely due to the fact that they wanted to give the prize to yet another American who representes what GW is not. They did not give him the award for ANYTHING he did personally.

I like Obama and want him to be a successful leader for us, but I'm confused as to what he's done thus far to deserve the Nobel. It's not the MTV Video Awards where it's a celebrity circle jerk; Nobel means you've done something huge in the advancement of the human race, and it's typically bestowed on you many years after your achievement has been realized.

Once they release the list of other nominees, I'll be happy to. At the moment, there's only speculation on who else was up for the award.

I dont really mind that he won the prize but I dont really get why. Joel... are you really sticking to the belief that because he did some stuff a few months as the president elect that he is worth of a prize that is a huge deal?

IMO this really cheapens the prize itself.

I guess I am in the camp of lets let history start to actually be written before we shower the guy with a prize that some people spend lifetimes of work and effort to achieve.

Again... I am not hating on the guy because he won the prize... but I really dont get the timing at all.
