you conservatives crack me up with this shit.

Bitch Pleaze!

Nobody knew about this shit.... Except the obama Admin of course.

People voted cuz they wanted their Hope and Change... But guess what fools, this ain't what they were talking about. They were talking about corruption and big government. However, they are getting 10xs the corruption and 10x's the size in government. This is the biggest power grab in the history of our country... and people are getting a little pissed.

After the Obama admin gets

Cap & Trade and Gov't run healthcare through.. the Progressives are done.

It will be the nail in the coffin for this Administration.

Just watch the State and Local races tonight.

People are pissed and they will vote for Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, Conservative or any 'party' as long as they are not a Big Government, ACORN Money Grabbing, Union Pandering Douchebag.

Just watch and squirm.

When the government takes workers out of the market and pays them to do busy work like that they may help those workers in the short term but they've also driven up the cost of labor for private investors who may now choose not to start up a business.... that employs people, who pay taxes...

I realize "desperate times" but its not a model we want to follow without a compelling reason... like soup kitchen lines around the block.

Huh? That's not a very accurate recollection. the Dotcom recession was 8 months. Didn't take 7-8 years to recover. Took that long to get into troublke again. The 2000s saw great growth. 90s too.

Democrats Salvage Night with NY-23 Special Win

Attorney Bill Owens won one of the most topsy-turvy special elections in recent memory Tuesday night in Upstate New York, giving Democrats nationally something to cheer about on a day that saw them lose the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia.
Owens defeated Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman and state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R), who dropped out of the race over the weekend and endorsed Owens but whose name remained on the ballot.
Hoffman was widely expected to win the seat, which was vacated by Secretary of the Army John McHugh (R) earlier this year. Hoffman has become a cause celebre of national conservatives -- led by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin -- and has been the beneficiary of heavy spending by the D.C.-based Club for Growth.
But Owens, who was largely been overshadowed in recent days by the fight between the movement and establishment wings of the Republican Party, used a strong showing in the eastern portion of this sprawling North County district and a surprisingly strong showing in Scozzafava's home county of Jefferson. (Owens carried the county 49 percent to 46 percent over Hoffman.)
The victory was the second for House Democrats this year in an Upstate New York special election. Earlier in the year, Rep. Scott Murphy (D) won a contested race to replace appointed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D) in New York's 20th district, which is based in Albany.
Democrats now control 258 seats to 177 for Republicans.

---

Owens defeated Hoffman despite a voter registration edge of 45,000 for Republicans and big-name endorsements for Hoffman from former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson and others.

depending on who you talk too.

some people say it was longer

Quote:
On Black Monday of October 1987 a stock collapse of unprecedented size lopped 22.6 percent off the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The collapse, larger than that of 1929, was handled well by the economy, and the stock market began to quickly recover. However, in North America, the lumbering savings and loans industry was beginning to collapse, leading to a savings and loan crisis which put the financial wellbeing of millions of Americans in jeopardy.

The panic that followed led to a sharp recession that hit hardest those countries most closely linked to the United States, including Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The economies of much of Europe and Japan were hurt, but not as badly. The US economy continued to grow as a whole, although certain sectors of the market such as energy and real estate slumped.

The first burst of the recession was short-lived, as fervent pre-election activity by the governments of the United States and Canada created what many economists at the time saw as an economic miracle: a growing consumer confidence and increased consumer spending almost single-handedly lifted the North American economy out of recession.

It soon turned out that the quick recovery was illusory, and by 1990, economic malaise had returned with the beginning of the Gulf War and the resulting 1990 spike in the price of oil, which increased inflation but to less of a degree as the oil crisis ten years earlier. Nevertheless, for the next several years high unemployment, massive government budgetary deficits, and slow Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth affected the United States until late 1992 and Canada until 1995.

Elections

  • Democrat Wins New York House Race

Democrat Bill Owens won a hard-fought race for a U.S. House seat in New York's 23rd district that pitted many conservative Republicans against the party establishment.
  • Maine Rejects Same-Sex Marriage

Maine voters rejected a law allowing same-sex couples to marry in a closely fought referendum that saw unexpectedly high turnout.
  • Christie Wins New Jersey Race

Republican Chris Christie pulled out a win in New Jersey governor's race against an unpopular Democratic incumbent blamed for high taxes and budget woes.
  • Bloomberg Wins 3rd Term

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg won a third term, but the race was much closer than polls had projected. Atlanta's mayoral election appeared headed for a runoff.
  • McDonnell Wins Big in Virginia

Republican Bob McDonnell convincingly defeated Democrat Creigh Deeds in the Virginia governor's race Tuesday, ending his party's eight-year shutout from the office.

how was ny-23 a partial victory? a "true conservative" endorsed by palin and her crowd lost in an overwhelming republican district that has not gone Dem in over 100 years. please explain, and don't just post the headlines.

as for the rest...the polling showed it had more to due with local conditions than a referendum on Obama. Feel free to interpret that however you want.

Wow, 3 out of 4 elections going Republican...call me in 2010 when 34 of 100 senate seats, 435 of 435 house seats, and 39 of 50 governorships will be up for election. Until then, this is all a useless circle jerk that has led you to believe something great is on the horizon.

Who knows, maybe those mao policies will have you eradicated or interned by 2010. /sarcasm

The CCC was 'a way' but not the 'preferred way' to get people working. My grandfather was in the CCC in Southeast Texas. He left there at least with a trade that he could use to find a 'real' job much later. The problem is that now (since the Depression) have had somewhat similar programs in place.

Not to mention the fact that citing a 'single' useful program intertwined with a whole host of disastrous programs that did nothing but extend the depression by a decade... is probably not a good strategy.

Plenty of sheep who worship at the altar of the big O. There doesn't need to be any pretending since "words matter," (and said words reveal these people for who they are) or was that the big O caught lying again?
