My problem with your statement is that not only is My/Face-crack a soap box/pedestal of sorts but, it's a way to communicate ideas that strike ME personally. I'm sincerely hoping that your taking all of what I post as MY IDEAS... lol. If I find something interesting, can wrap my head around it, form my own opinion on the matter, act or not act that's up to me.

I think one of my biggest problems is that we don't have enough of a clear message of what is going on around us therefore we turn to media outlets, like the internet, for information. So the "free-thinkers" are then able to sift through the pages & pages of information or dis-information & make judgments based on the collective data. Seems rational to me, pursuing both sides of the argument.

What I'm not understanding Brian is how we can agree with some points of others yet be considered a sycophant. Can we not have similar feelings, ideas, conclusions & do we not have the ability to express those certain ideas/beliefs/conclusions?

I assure you that my post was not to call anyone out, but rather to inspire people to do their own research. That original reason behind all this was people I have known since I was in 3rd or 4th grade running around posting up links and passing on thoughts that as I've seen and known them all through life they've never had on their own.

It's almost as if they are being disingenuous with themselves by giving one face and showing another all together elsewhere. People that I am friends with screaming "healthcare/education for Americans only" when the school we went to was a total hodgepodge of cultures/races.

The self-same people who are screaming out that our President somehow ruined life as we know it by the sheer act of just becoming President.

I think back to where they still live (SE Texas) and understand that a LOT of the stuff they are "reasoning" on their own is from the influence of where they are, but we all grew up together and it's tough for me to see them (folks raised the exact same way) end up so biased on things that they wouldn't otherwise be.

I don't think YOU are a sycophant, Dawn. I don't KNOW you know you, but I've seen and know enough to know that you are dealing out the facts as YOU know them. There isn't a card you are reading from. It doesn't seem to be the case with the folks I'm talking about.

Actually, you created this thread on the back of the one I created that delineates in real terms the fiscal reality of what Washington is trying to pass in the name of healthcare reform. I simply used an incendiary thread title to get people's attention. I haven't seen anyone contest the claims of how even the poor's taxes will, in effect, be increased by this plan.

Also, I see no problem with calling out the members of the Administration on the words they speak. After all, the chief executive himself proclaimed that words matter.

I do have to give credit where credit is due.

Again, if people are inclined to act and feel that a great wrong is on them, then do something with your votes or by way of talking to your elected representatives. As much as I loathe a lot of the naysaying, I know that folks have the right to voice dissenting views and I would not have that silenced.

I WOULD, however, think that people would do more than ride coattails with those opinions. I see a lot of piggybacking on the social sites and this messageboard regarding that point. Ryan and bfp were the last big carriers of the "formed facts with focus" gangs for both sides of the arguments in here (no offense meant, Vinnie97).
