  • Economy.
Short term: create jobs and revenue by expanding alternative/green energy sector, legalizing and taxing cannabis and hemp products. make the US the largest supplier of hemp products in the world. (multibillion dollar industry laugh if you want). give greater tax incentives to alt. energy businesses, urban farmers, hemp farmers.
Long term: focus on more localized and self-sufficient economies. expand urban farming. less transportation of goods = less money spent.
  • Healthcare
keep current system that allows for the patient's choice of provider.
for the lowest income bracket that cannot afford coverage, create more non-profit hospitals using government money that would have been spent prosecuting marijuana users (billions of dollars). focus on getting at least one non-profit hospital in every major city.
  • War
Iraq: get the fuck out. its that simple. send em to afghanistan to help train soliders.
Afghanistan: train 40,000 more afghanis for their military force, then leave. train a narcotics squad to track and shut down suppliers and smugglers of heroin. Create an international call for countries to cultivate their own poppies and make their own products. legalize and regulate those poppy products. very crucial. with the afghani heroin trade (95% of the worlds supply) the taliban has UNLIMITED SOURCE OF REVENUE. if we do not cut off their revenue there is no chance of stability in Afghanistan.

Re: Your solutions to:

Sorry but the green energy sector is a crapshoot...just ask Spain. Instead, look at offshore drilling. Of course, alternative energy is also worth pursuing but some think we should put all the eggs in that one basket. Healthcare: Real TORT reform (the Democrats aren't interested in this, as lawyers are some of their biggest contributors), limiting the damages one can amass for malpractice, and REAL competition across state lines. Federalizing it won't save costs and simply adds up to $2 trillion to an already unspeakably large deficit. I find agreement with Coyotol's "war" comments overall...lastly, don't unnecessarily shackle the current troops on the Afghan ground with untenable Rules of Engagement.

Why? Because it offers a quick fix? Oil is not a renewable resource. It will run out. That kind of thinking is past its prime. Also the damage offshore and any type of drilling causes to the surrounding ecosystem is not worth it imo. We have the technology to develop a miriad of alternative energy sources. Why not focus time effort and money on that. we can continue to produce oil at the already established drilling sites while alternative sources are developed.

green is good.

Re: Your solutions to:

I didn't say to ignore green completely but not to put all of the eggs in that basket. It's a bit goofy to ignore the case study that Spain provides and that Obama himself has referenced as a model we should follow: http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnal...aspx?id=507486

1 green job for every 2 jobs lost in the private sector? Eff that.

GE's Russian Ties Strengthened After Obama Nixes Missile Defense
What does U.S. get for missile move?

G.E. to Profit from Obama's Green Energy Policies

~in case anyone cares... The Polish currently guard, conduct patrols and protect the roadway near the remote Afghan post where all of my Army friends are getting deployed to just before Christmas. As you can imagine, they don't leave the base anymore, they don't do patrols for them anymore, and they don't do route clearance missions on the roadway (looking for IEDs) anymore. Why would they help our guys??? Our government just fucked them big time! Why? so Obama's cronies at GE can have a sit down with Putin to discuss multi-billion dollar sales of bullshit 'green' equipment.

Quote:
GE CEO Jeff Immelt sits on Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, and GE owns MSNBC, the network famously friendly to Obama.
Coincidence, I think not.

Don't believe all of this GREEN hype bullshit ladies & gents. It's a friggin' scam. Whether we need to do better recycling, find renewable energy resources or not... GREEN has now become BIG BUSINESS.. They are in it for the money. I'm quite familiar, I work in a 'GREEN' industry, I'm well aware of the hype and the money to be made.

For LEED's Certification, you learn all the B.S. involved. Just an example would be a specific type of water filtration system required to get a building LEED's certified... guess what? there's only (1) manufacturer of that specific part that has been 'certified' by the govt. Naturally, that makes the price out-fucking-rageous. Wonder who that is...? a company with deep pockets who hired a lobbyist to get them included. Is their part any better than the one that is 1/2 the cost? absolutely not.

Don't Believe the Hype!
