| interesting abortion project
i'm in the "adbusting" community on livejournal. someone named pixietart sent this out today, and i thought some of you could be interested in it. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Are any of you good at writing or ad copy????!!! My new project is an old project. For portfolio I am redoing a poster campaign exposing the bush administration’s anti-choice agenda. The following is the headlines and copy of the old posters. Each poster has a huge smiling head of either Bush, Ashcroft or Cheney. I recently received a press release from the National Organization of Woman (NOW) which informed me of some new info on Bush... so I think I can safely change his headline to something along the lines of “Use Contraceptives? Terrorist!” or something similar because he called abortion terrorism. I would like to update and paraphrase these paragraphs even more. I would like them to all be as good/shocking/and truthful as the “been raped? sucks to be you!” headline. So If anyone has any headline ideas, or new info I should know about, comment or email me ASAP. Thanks guys! ![]() i would rather outlaw abortion than cut your taxes. (john ashcroft) Ashcroft co-sponsered a resolution for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to ban abortion; even in cases of rape or incest. The amendment also would outlaw several of the most common contraceptive methods. When asked “...One choice, cut taxes or outlaw abortion- what would you do?” Ashcroft replied, “Outlaw abortion.” Vote for me again, I’ll overturn Roe v. Wade! (george bush) On Bush’s second day in office, on the 28th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, he issued an executive memorandum reinstating the notorious global “gag” rule on international family planning programs. The “gag” rule prvents U.S. funds from going to international programs that use their own non-U.S. funds for abortion services, counseling, and lobbying. In issuing the ruling, Bush misleadingly assured that he was trying to prevent taxpayer funds from going to abortions. In fact, federal law has forbidden the use of U.S. taxpayer funds for abortion overseas since 1973. Since then President Bush has made it clearin his continous anti-abortion actions that curbing abortion rights is a top priority in the White House. been raped? sucks to be you (this headline is the only keeper) (cheney) During his ten years in the House, Richard Cheney consistently voted against a woman’s right to choose. He voted to ban federally funded abortion services for low-income women, U.S. servicewomen stationed overseas, and Peace Corps volunteers. Even in cases of rape or incest or when the woman’s life was in danger. He also voted to prohibit federal employees from choosing health care plans that cover abortion services. |

that sucks. I think it should be pro-choice.... I'm not for abortion..... but there are some circumstances that I am for it... if its a risk to the mother..... and if they have been raped.... Thats just sad. I never knew any of that. |

NOW...haha. ZIEG HEIL TO THE BOOBIES!! in any case, i think for roe v wade to be overturned a liberal justice would need to die/retire. and frighteningly enough, this could happen. if bush is reelected it would most definitely happen, and with congress being a majority republican, dubya could appoint a fucking nazi.

No offense intended, but I don't believe abortions should EVER be federally funded. A lot of other things shouldn't either. I don't fucking pay taxes for things like that, because I don't consider them essential(and don't cry to me about girls getting raped, etc., they can pay for their own fucking abortions too). As for good abortion projects, I think the best one would have to be ArtPolitic's. Check it out at http://www.artpolitic.org/campaigns/02_abortion.php Rather than picking one side or another as a whole they let their individual members portray what they believed.
