Smoking banned in Dallas around minors - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Reading over the new Dallas smoking ordinance, I find that smoking is banned around minors. Personally, I would prefer the events stay 17+ and the owners instead ban smoking, but I expect that most bar events will now be 18+.

I will be interested in seeing what happens on Thursday at the SandBar (Audio Evolution) because the event is 17+. Technically, if they let in minors then you cannot smoke at all, even outside.

Just out of curiosity, what's the main part of the smoking ban. I heard somewhere that places where 71% or more of sales are alcohol are exempt from the ban. Is that the case?

Geeze, I hope Adair's slides in over 71% if that's true...

Bars that have a specified percentage of alcohol sales out of total sales are exempt from the ban. However, the ban is pretty unenforceable, since in order to do anything about it, a code enforcement officer must see somebody light up, and the ticket is written out to the individual, not to the restaurant or bar.

from what I heard, over 50% of your sales have to come from the bar to be exempt. I may be wrong though.

Arlington does, smoking is only allowed in bars here.
