If you were Saddam Hussein, all things considered, how would you address the threat of war?

Considering that he's a f***ing nutjob, I'd probably unleash everything I had on the American troops and launch a massive attack on Israel. This is a large part of why I am opposed to this war.

And I am for the war, but I think Ryan's got the right scenario. Especially if we can't establish a northern front.

Bide my time with unfruitful UN weapons inspections.

Build my secret arsenal.

Arrange to have the battle be in Baghdad, and then drop every chemical weapon I have on UN forces.

Invade Kuwait and set it's oil fields ablaze again.

Launch chemical weapons on Isreal. Invade.

Secretly fund terrorist attacks against countries who are allied against me.

During all of this, I'd not allow my people to leave the cities they live in. After the war begins, the civilian casualties caused by retaliation from allied troops would maybe persuade the more fickle nations to give me aid of some sort. And if the US drops tactical nukes on Baghdad, the casualties would REALLY make my country look like the victim.

Wait ten years. Repeat.

Precisely, while he is a madman, he is very clever politically. He does alot with what little he has.

Also, I am right there with both your assumptions Ryan and Threecurl. I believe that he will in fact use everything in his power as soon as the war is going badly for him. Israel had better look out.
