My views on this war

i am convinced that we would not be at war today (HOLY SHIT THAT'S A SCARY THING TO SAY) if we just came to realize that iraq and the rest of the eastern hemisphere does not exist.

that's right. it's all in your mind.

i mean, really. who in their right minds would even THINK of TRYING to develop a civilation in a huge fucking desert? these "saudies" and "arabs" don't really exist. there is no "middle east". look at the ridiculous names of these so-called "countries":

Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey

these countries need some SERIOUS marketing lessons. how the hell are you supposed to cheer for your country in the olympics? NONE of these names are good for chanting and they always end up in the punch lines of jokes.

so, it is with great pleasure that i announce theses countries, along with France, the Check Republic*, and any other country in the eastern hemisphere that hasn't made any major contributions to the world as we know it in the past 10 years, are to be stricken from the history books and our minds!

this should be an easy task, seeing as they don't exist in the first place. look at it this way: the USA's got some problems (homeless people, starving children, the education system, unemployment to name a few**) that really require more attention than we give them credit for. if we can send off TONS and TONS of food and aide to these imaginary places thousands of miles away... why are there people starving HERE?!

but that's just the tip of the iceberg in this phoney-country scam. this "war" that we're engaged in now... what are we doing? i mean, i'm all for getting this crazy hitler-look-a-like, but everyone knows that sequels never do as well as the originals. this better not turn into one of those cliff hanger endings that sucks.

>>did we get him?

>>i don't know... there's a hole in the ground the size of California, but i honestly can't say. and we can't search the site for 300 years.

>>so we'll just have to wait until the US gets attacked again.

>>basically.

>>shit.

and there's the end to this episode, "Gulf Wars II... Target: Iraq". sorry CNN, i know you were looking forward to the "very special" final episode when sweeps comes around, but i just couldn't hold it back any longer.

ya know what makes this war suck more? the fact that we were given time to form and voice opinions. look at history:

The Great War... There's a war going on in "Europe"... we don't care... "allies" ask for help... we go in, save the day... everybody cheers!

World War II... There's a war going on in "Europe"... we TOLD those bastards to get rid of Hitler, so fuck off, not our problem... Japs bomb us... we get mad and fuck them up good. go into Germany and fuck them up good too. we save the day... everybody cheers!

Vietnam... There's concern that "communism" is spreading to a country the size of Maryland... we get freaked out... lots of media coverage... we go in... MORE media coverage... lots of dead women and children are shown on television... people in the US riot... we pull out of Vietman... troops come home and get spit on.

Desert Storm... There's a "war" going on in "Europe"... our gas prices are going up... all of a sudden, there's Saddam Hussain (or whatever)... did i mention that there's a lot of sand here? there is a lot of sand... we free a "country" the size of Rhode Island that seems to be populated only by burning oil fields... LOTS of TV coverage... there's even remote controlled missiles... enemy has sticks for guns... they surrender or something... more TV coverage... and it kinda goes away.***

NOW! what we have here is small amounts of coverage for the last decade and THEN terroists think they can start shit by flying planes into tall buildings... we bomb the FUCK outta them and STILL dont' get their fucking leader and THEN this Saddam guy who had moved to the background for so long, steps up AGAIN and we cover MORE AND MORE AND MORE SHIT ON TELEVISION... in fact, we practically give away our plans b/c we feel the need to FUCKING BROADCAST EVERY GODDAMN LITTLE THING THAT HAPPENS!!

so here we are.

at war with at country that doesn't even deserve to be called a country. but by now everyone has an opinion and NEEDS to express it.

they're not rolling out the red carpet on sunday for the oscars... i think that's smart. i, for one, don't want to hear a bunch on whiny overpaid rich people who ACT for a living, giving me their thoughts on the war LIKE IT'S GOING TO MAKE ONE GODDAMN OUNCE OF DIFFERENCE! JOIN THE FUCKING COAST GAURD IF YOU WANT TO VOICE AN OPINION! ENLIST IN THE MILITARY AND THEN, MAYBE YOU CAN GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ON WHY THIS WAR IS SO FUCKING "WRONG".

i'm pist off, can ya tell? i don't know how this entry went TOTALLY crazy, but it did.

-fin-

*yeah, it's spelled how it sounds. so what.
**yeah, i didn't mention drugs. it's not a real important problem. if people had food, clothing, and shelter, there might not be a drug "problem"
***yeah, i know these discriptions aren't really accurate. so what? they get my point across.

I guess people who live there. The same people who live in parts of west Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California. Not to mention Mexico. If that is really so absurd, why the fuck are we so involved economically in that part of the world? Why not just back out of it and let the people have their own not-in-their-right-minds civilization and stop giving terrorists something to be pissed about.

Do you really believe this? How do they simultaneously not exist and cheer for themselves in the Olympics? Oh, sorry other cultures don't feel the need to turn everything they have into objects to appease the Western world.

Why not remove a country that has been engaged in truly evil practices for the past 60 years first? Let's get rid of the US.

It's cool. I am just tyring to add a light side this all of this. Excuse me for trying to keep my sense of humor while all this is going on. No, I do not truly believe that these countries should just dissapear. I am very bothered by this war. I think it is unneccesary. And being that I feel it is unneccesay, I thought I would try to make a few people smile byt making the most outlandish 'situation' of it.

i guess my attempts failed. oh well

This is a perfectly valid viewpoint... one of the nice things about this country is that you can harbor such a view... but one thing I always ask myself about people that harbor such feelings against the US, is "Why do you still live here then?". Wouldn't you be happier, in say, France?

Not entirely correct. Actually, the US' "isolationist" policy at the time meant that we were disengaged, whereas it was Britain and France that pressured Czechoslovakia to concede much of its territory to Hitler at Munich. Isolationism was pretty much a smear term, whereby our European friends could call us isolationist and mean that they believed we were 'pro-nazi'.

...and abuse their celebrity status... *sic*

The question is that if you feel that strongly about something, why subject yourself to it any longer?

Actually, people in the US took pride in this ideology and referred to it at such. No one wanted another repeat of WW I here.
People in the US might have taken pride in it, but our European "friends" didn't necessarily take the same pride in it... in fact, they liked to use it against us when they could (and in fact, did on numerous occassions). The likened our isolationism to our bully attitude, our wanton ignorance for the world around us, our unwillingness to play in the international theatre...

Am I the only one that knew her post was a satirical posts???
It was funny as hell, and I am sure it wasn't meant as too serious of a post.
Then again I could be wrong.

In effort to make a positive change. It's what the democratic process is supposed to be about. Not telling people who disagree with you to get lost.

I thought it was hysterical, too. Very Dennis Miller. There's a few folks around here, though, that are so amped up with anti-war sentiment that ANYTHING that even vaguely suggests that we should not all be decrying the downfall of western civilization is attacked.

But, yeah... it thought it the satire was goodernshit.

Actually, I do know my fair share of this war. My dad happens to be a highly decorated soldier of this war. Who is forever disturbed by what happened to him during this time. And it pisses me off that he has to live with this the rest of his life. I do not wish war on any human being.

And thanks H - I hope more people understood what I was saying.

I guess I am just not as, shall we say... 'politically correct' as some others.

But I do know what I feel.

Like Threecurl said, sometimes we get too caught up on things and fail to see the satirical nature of some posts.
That and all sarcasm is dead on the net.

No....it just didn't make sense. Why would I worry about the names of countries that I'm supposed to make myself believe do not exist?

There wasn't anything humorous in it. It was stupid and full of subdued racism.
