| facts on Depleted Uranium from the WHO Read about it here... It's amazing what some people will do to spin things into a shitstorm of controversy... this whole DU thing reminds me of the saccharin scare, EMF risks, etc., etc. etc. I can make data look like anything I want, too. Here's another thing - there's arsenic in POTATOS. That's right... beware potatos and potato-based products... they're evil. |

I think it's pretty common sense to suggest that flying shrapnel and dust of nuclear waste is going to have some sort of health risk. Unfortunately, not enough studies have been done to confirm the degree of risk existing by these munitions. Moreover, even the military knows that a health risk exists. There are specific safety procedures for thosee who handle DU shells to prevent contact with them when transporting and loading them. However...there are no safety procedures for those in the field witness to the explosions of these shells.

go to a VA hospital & then u won't have to weigh the biases of the media. can't argue with a down vet who isn't getting any compensation for the injuries he received due to environmental factors. i JUST FOUND out yesterday that vets don't get compensated for everything they acquire during their service. only stuff that the govt. can justify was done to them directly from the other side. which would explain all those angry agent orange, jungle rot & gulf war syndrome victims... getting blowed off by the govt. i sacrificed to protect would piss me off too. the point of this thread was supposed to be about how blowing things up is bad for us. even blood in a stream makes the water undrinkable. but lighting the fires from a militaristic standpoint would not only endanger the immediate troops, but would also force the aggressors to have to redirect energy and manpower to work on putting out the super dangerous fires. so it gives them a great distraction so they can slip away. obvious this thread has been captured. where is the white flag smiley? i give up

Putting out well fires isn't the military's problem, so using well fires as some sort of delaying tactic doesn't really work. What would happen in those cases is an engineering or civilian affairs unit would identify the civilian resources needed (Like Boots & Coots or Red Adair) to deal with the fires and then move on. Combat troops for certain wouldn't stop long enough to warm their hands, let alone fight a well fire.
