White House ends TV Ads about "Drugs and Terrorism"

http://www.adage.com/news.cms?newsId=37504

They're also killing funding for the study that showed how the Ads weren't working:

"The Office of National Drug Control Policy will also cease a polarizing $8 million annual study that found the ads aimed at youth were not working and that pitted the drug office against the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. "

It's sad to know that a 10 year old could have realized this and warned them of this years ago....

How shocking. If they really want to curb drug and alcohol abuse, just take that bastard out of office. God knows I've had to drink myself to sleep every night since January of 2001.

Not only kids but kids already using drugs?
...and will focus on halting drug use among children already using rather than aim to deter youth from starting drugs."

Looks like a way to gain a younger more impressionable audience. Kids are easier to lie to.

If the ads aren't working to stop kids from trying drugs, how are they supposed to help get kids that are already using, to stop?

It doesn't make sense.
It's like, okay, the war on drugs is a lost cause, so the government capitalizes on it by using the whole terrorism bit.
They KNOW everyone knows what happened on Sept. 11th, so if they can make people blame drugs for what happened, maybe, at least they haven't lost the war on drugs.

just like pirates

we drink rum instead of water
cause one day we'll have no clean water

cause half of america blindly believed the industrialist hype
and the other half sedated itself into submission...

can i have a lime for my next cocktail??

ryan & darki, we need to have a cnn drinking party. everytime they say this war is causing justifiable loss of life & property we take a drink. what an excellent game. we'll be blitzed faster than Hitler took over Poland.

but bush doesn't want to occupy iraq, he wants to SAVE iraq and just needs to keep his fat foot in the door during the 'rescue' -- sha-riiiiiiiiiiiiite

i saw in a libertarian party press release awhile back where a study showed that one series of their anti-drug commercials actually increased the likelihood of junior high and high school students to smoke marijuana, especially 12 and 13 year old girls.

another thing...

AMT and foxy were just scheduled. i had never fucking heard of either AMT or foxy before they were scheduled. and i bet neither had 99% of all junior high and highschool aged persons.
