I saw that aswell. I think its pretty fucked up to invade someone's homeland (not saddam, the iraqi people), tell them to get the fuck out and tear down all they know. I just wonder now whos next..

Are you people fucking serious? The Iraqi people wanted to tear the statue down, they are doing it all over the country. It's called symbolism, have any of you been to history class. They did the exact same thing with Hitler and Stalin's statues. It's called Symbolism, they are destroying the remains of a Dictator that ruled them by force for the last 34 years! They are excited because now they have the hope for freedom. The marines helped the Iraqi people tear down the statue, because they obviously didn't have the equipment to do it themselves. As for the flag part I do agree that was a mistake. But what do you expect from some 19 or 20 year old soldier who's been fighting for the last few weeks alll the way across the country. He didn't know any better, he probably thought it was a good idea. Clearly he was wrong and one of his superiors told him to take it down. He f'd up, but let's not blow this out of proportion.

I totally agree with Element4040. The people were in the square trying to tear the thing down long before the US troops got involved. They couldn't pull it down with a rope, so the Americans helped them out. As far as the soldier placing the flag over the statue, I agree that was done in poor taste, but like Element said, he was just some young kid all hopped up on adrenaline and probably thought it was a good idea. That lasted all of about a minute or two and then they took it down because the crowd started showing resentment over the action. Of course the media freaked about it because almost every journalist on the planet (especially Europeans) cringe at the sight of an American flag in any situation. I think some people are too easily offended.

That post was extremely disrespectful to our troops... Especially this part: WTF were those GI Joe cunts thinking? I mean, there was a big group of Iraqi civilians working together to pull the statue down. Admittedly they had no fucken idea what they were doing and they were about as organized as a group of scattered ravers trying to decide what to do after a rave. Those men and women have been in hell over there, dealing with death and destruction...watching their brothers go down and not having the chance to speak to their families for months and months…maybe they are not as schooled in politics as others…maybe it was a young 18 year old kid who thought it was a good idea, and didn’t know any better… They obviously made a mistake in putting up the flag, who is this jackass to criticize a simple mistake? It was obviously a mistake that his parents had sex…or that his mother had the chance to reproduce in the first place… (and this post may have come from a woman…I checked in members to see if this was a man or woman, and the name was not there) The only cunt I smell here is Xorn69 |

From FOX NEWS (the soldier who placed the flag over the statue). I think it's pretty safe to say that his intentions were not malicious in any way. It seems like everyone in the world is a lot more offended by this than the Iraqis themseleves. "I was just trying my best to get the chain around his neck and put the flag on his head," Cpl. Edward Chin, 23, said Thursday on ABC-TV's Good Morning America. Chin said he had second thoughts about what message the use of the flag might send the Iraqi people. Some said later it suggested U.S. occupation. "At the moment, I was just doing what I was told to do by my commanding officer," Chin said. "... I had to get the job done just like we've been doing out here in Iraq." Chin was quickly ordered to take the U.S. flag down and replace it with an Iraqi flag. Moments later, the towering bronze statue was pulled down, and cheering Iraqis tore it to pieces. "It was a pretty crazy experience watching the whole crowd," Chin said. In New York, Chin's family -- who hadn't seen him since Christmas -- watched the events unfold on television. "I thought, 'Oh, my son, you are making history, you are part of the Iraqis' liberation,"' said his father, Stanley Chin. His fiancee, Anne Fu, said she knew Chin meant no disrespect when he put up the American flag. "He wanted to show the Iraqi people that they were free, that they were liberated, that the U.S. was there to help them and that Saddam is over," she said. Chin and his family are ethnic Chinese from Myanmar, formerly Burma. They moved to the United States when Chin was 1 week old and live in Brooklyn. Chin joined the Marines in 1999 and is stationed at the Marine Corps Air/Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif. "I'm very proud of him," sister Connie Chin told WWOR-TV. "Here's a 23-year-old doing all these amazing things and representing America and representing it well, I think." |

We're coming after Australia next with all those sneaky little Koala's that you have that are obviously up to no good. Furthermore let's not forget the Jihad declared by all the Marsupials sneaking uranium across your borders in their pouches.
