![]() | Funness with rave act....and other terrible legislation
If you're interested in checking out what they've done to the federal Amber plan....click here and take a look at the last section, "miscelaneous provisions" which includes 2 key subsections. One is the illicit drug/rave act....which I think everybody's heard of. Two is this John Doe DNA Indictment bullshit. If this passes, the federal government will be able to indict somebody they don't even know based upon their DNA alone. Essentially this means one of two things will happen. One, there will be a push for a federal DNA database (although I doubt this will ever occur) or two, it destroys the statute of limitations provisions. If the federal government has enough DNA to be able to test it against somebody, they can indict an unknown person through DNA and the indictment will last until they find the person....which means that the DOJ can open up essentially blanket indictments that will last until they can find the "alledged". Fantastic!

This makes me SO mad. I have not trusted the government for quite some time, so I am not surprized. But they still never cease to amaze me at how SHADY and DECEIVING they are. I don't even understand how they could put those provisions into an Act that has nothing to do with them. But I guess they believe that all these missing children are actually being abducted by all those horrible raver people who take them and lock them away in underground facilities, forcing them to wear neon clothing and plastic beads, and listen to that horrible music at ear-splitting volumes. *please note the sarcasm in my last comment, thank you* | |

I don't get how this ties into the AMBER Alert bill either. However this whole RAVE Act business isn't *too* much to get up-in-arms about anyways. Most of the bandwagon jumping ravers only took notice of the thing when it was titled as such as to take aim at them directly. It merely amends an existing law (read: Crackhouse Law) to not only include venue owners but also anyone who leases or rents an establishment for the purported use of illegal substances. I think the main target should be the Crackhouse Law. All the Rave Act adds up to is a new leg for the Crackhouse law to stand on. Take out the head and you got the whole damn thing. I'm not trying to downplay the importance of striking out the Rave Act, and every litlle bit helps, but I feel as though if/when the Rave Act were to be struck down finally, all the ravers would relax and not give a damn when in fact the Crackhouse Law still looms over them. |
