| Letter response campaign to media's portrayal of "collateral damage" in Iraq
Dear [news station], I believe that the innocent Iraqi civilians killed in this war shouldn't be merely portrayed as "collateral damage" anymore than our own soldiers risking and losing their lives out in the field should be seen in such a flippant way. This war has taken a terrible toll on soldiers and civilians alike here and in Iraq, and more Americans need to see that. If our purpose for supposedly being over in Iraq is so the Iraqi people can have a future much better than what they experienced for more than twenty years under the terror of Saddam, then shouldn't the losses of those Iraqi civilians, who will never be able to experience the end reward of this war, at least be covered by the news networks in a much more dignified manner, rather than being reported as a mere body count or using of cold, jargonistic terms such as "collateral damage"? I would appreciate if this station would try to make an effort at the end of its news broadcast to post pictures of the sacrificed innocent Iraqi men, women, children, and whole families killed every week, along with pictures of our fighting American men and women.
