Has anyone noticed how poor the air quality is in Dallas?? Or did you not notice when the girl on the radio says in a happy cheery voice "..and today is a level orange ...." and then segs into the lineup for edgefest. The air sucks around here. I've lived here for a long time. It has to take an effect. What....days off my life that some punk is depositing into his bank acoount as his botton line for not adhereing to clean air regs or insufficient regs. Everyday...nobody does or says shit and all you have to do is look out any window. |

my g/f recently got a loft at Southside, and I've been sleeping there often... but I've noticed that when I sleep there, I always wake up with mild asthma. I'm guessing it's because of the pollution, but it's quite hard to breathe sometimes... then again, I smoke a pack a day also, so it's gotta be real bad for me to notice something. :P |

Well that's big city life...on one hand you could buy French cuisine at 2 in the morning and on the other you have pollution codes on the morning news... You pick and choose your battles.....

I'm a smoker and I will agree air quality in Dallas sucks hard I've always felt that it may be from the lack of trees? or water? There are more trees in New York would I rather breathe New York air? sure, send some this way I enjoy the comments from the smokers It's gotta be pretty fucking bad if we can notice it |

Lack of significant amounts of public transportation Failure to address the problem of large industry pollution Reducing speed limits by 5 mph to make up for it Yeah, I can see why the air sucks.

I am from New York and i never thought i would say this...but damn i miss me some New York Tap-Water and Air. Say what you want to but NYC has some of the greatest tasting tap-water known to man. It comes from the mountains in upstate NY. Back to the topic at hand, the air quality down here is really REALLY BAD. I never had allergies until i moved down here. I never heard of an "ozone day" before...EVER. Unfortunately Texas is a HUGE STATE. You have to drive EVERYWHERE, and everyone here mostly drives a Truck or SUV. I mean the nearest place to get food is at least a 5 minute drive. In New York, you walk....i mean you walk everywhere. You need cigarettes? you WALK to the corner store...you dont drive. If you need to get somewhere that's far...you take the bus or train. If you need a galllon of milk...you walk to get it. I must admit...i have become Taxanized because i will be the first to tell your ass "fuck no i aint walking in this 123 degree heat a minimum of 4 miles to go to Krogers to get milk." Someone needs to make public transportation more easily accessible and worth it down here. No one really takes DART down here because the nearest station is still nowhere really near you. I do my share to help out though. For example i am taking the Trinity Railway Express to the American Airlines Center for tonight's Mavericks game. Oh well...i think that the air problem in Texas has a lot to do with "Texan culture" and "Texan Logic". Does everyone need a truck? If not, is an SUV the only other choice of vehicle? Do you really have to drive to Stop & Go to get a pack of gum? Simply telling people that there is an "ozone warning" is teh fail. |
