| President to sign "RAVE" act into law -=today=-
As most people already know, both houses of Congress passed the "Illicit Drug Anti-Proliferation Act".
This legislation was slipped into the AMBER Alert Bill (a new law that creates a nationwide network for tracking down abducted children) by Senator Biden.
President Bush will be signing the AMBER Alert Bill (and thus the "RAVE" act) into law today. Once he does this, law enforcement agencies across the country will have the legal right to shut down music venues, imprison venue owners and event promoters.
This law inacts a $250,000 fine for those that are found to be in violation. The wording of the bill text makes it so that anyone throwing a music event is liable, as one can reasonably expect that at least one person will be under the influence of a substance at an event, regardless of the security measures taken.
I saw something on CNN this morning about the Amber Alert bill, and all the great things it's doing to protect America's children. They didn't mention the legislation that was appended to this bill, of course.
