i could see his point if he were saying something like people who DL music 3 times would have their internet connection cut off for a certain amount of time, or be billed, or some other shit, but destroying computers? btw, thanks kilowatts for the article, i got a good chuckle outta that.

By the time they had the resources to be able to track when a specific user has downloaded 3 illegal music files and then "destroy" their computer (however the fuck they plan on doing that), they would have the resources to just stop illegal downloads, assuming they follow the laws that they have created. I also don't think the government, RIAA and MPAA understand the ramifications of allowing the destruction of people's computers over downloading files. A lot of these people that are downloading these "illegal" files are the ones that have created the internet as we know it today and now control it as well as the hackers that can completely destroy it. With a unified cyber attack hackers could cause the government and entertainment industries millions, maybe even billions, of dollars through destruction of data, the backlash of compromised information and the media attention that would be drawn to the attack because the internet would slow to a crawl worldwide. Oh well, it's the only way they'll learn. I say bring it on, it should be fun to watch. On another note. Quote:

Our leaders are old and old-fashioned. They can't keep up with the rate at which the rest of the world is progressing, and old fashioned techniques don't work anymore. I often wonder just how culturally stimulated some of our government officials really are. Do they watch interesting films? Are they into intriguing and stimulating music? Can they appreciate fine art? Do they truly know the heart and mind of the human spirit? Have they ever been to a poetry reading? etc etc... It's only a matter of time before technology takes them over. It's limitless, boundless, impossible to control, and they just can't handle that. They remind me of my grandparents who have no clue how to use a computer. |

| Hatch guilty of piracy
Senator Hatch should have the computer that runs his personal website destroyed, considering that it's run using pirated software. http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,59305,00.html quote: The senator's site makes extensive use of a JavaScript menu system developed by Milonic Solutions, a software company based in the United Kingdom. The copyright-protected code has not been licensed for use on Hatch's website. "It's an unlicensed copy," said Andy Woolley, who runs Milonic. "It's very unfortunate for him because of those comments he made." |
