Salvia D Observer Memo: DEA Moving.

Quote:
MOVES BY THE DEA AND FORTHCOMING USA TODAY ARTICLE

I have recently been informed that the DEA is planning to approach the United States Congress with a recommendation that Salvia divinorum and salvinorin A be added to the Controlled Substances Act. An article about Salvia divinorum is scheduled to appear next week in the newspaper USA Today. I expect that it will provide more information about this. The day that the article appears in print, I'll send out an issue of this newsletter with a link to the article.
So much for Salvia.

I can't wait to see what kind of misinformation and disinformation they print about it. The best weapon they have for getting any drug scheduled is to get kids parent's in an uproar about it.

10 minutes of PURE HELL and INSANITY. And aftereffects last for four years, including making you want to eat plastic.

People will do it whether the government makes it legal or not.

yeah, but people are buying it as a substitute for pot when they can't find it. many people buy it because it is legal and available. if it is no longer legal, there will not be as many people doing it because there isn't exactly a huge market for it as there is for pot. the biggest market for salvia is people thinking it will be a legal alternative to pot. the only people that will be able to find it if it is illegal will be those who make a huge effort to find it...the same people who understand it and respect it. Not people who are just smoking it because they can't score pot.

Who finds it hard to get weed? I don't smoke it, but I could get a hold of it pretty quickly.

Generally, abuse of a drug increases after it is made illegal. Most people even within the drug community were either unaware or uninterested in Salvia before all of this criminalization talk started.

I agree with SOA child though, I woulda never heard about it had it not been for it being at the Head Shop. It is advertised and sold as a substitute for Pot. It is far from that. While the employees at the shop are usually good at explaining what it is and isn't, it's a powerful halucinogen that is being advertised as a legal marijuana substitute.

So we should penalize the headshops. However, for those of you who are blind to the violent cycle of drug criminalization, watch closely as salvia use escalates.

Yeehaw.
