Syria

Syria assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council yesterday morning for the month of August, marking the second time the terrorist-sponsoring nation has held the prestigious post.

what's next Osama bin Laden running the red cross
Libya to host the goodwill games

The presidency rotates every month by alphabetical order. The UK is next month, then the US, etc. This has been in effect for years now.

Sweet, two more terror-sponsoring nations will preside over the UNSC.

then you'll get teabaged.

besides. what does it matter? the UN has kinda proven that outside of being a big charity organisation. its a useless entity with no balls to enforce its own rulings that all agreed on.

Go fuck a fencepost as that is as close to the real thing as you'll ever get.
Screwing a fencepost has nothing todo with Syria, quit changing the subject
Syria shouldn't be part of the Security Council, if their going to allow Hezbollah to run wild all over Syria, allowing them to fire many rockets into northern Israel, surface to surface rockets in Syria, sitting them on top of schools, hopspitals, and many other cilvilian targets, as well as snipers taking shots across the border, recently a 19 year old American college student, has been abducted by Hezbollah, and a 20 year old IDF soldier abducted by Hezbollah, and murdered, not counting the dozen American and Israeli's who have fanished near the Israel/Syria border thanks to Hezbollah, and Syria does nothing. Remember the 1982 war in Lebanon, the PLO launching terror attacks from Lebanon into Israel, forced Israel to invade Lebanon to stop the attacks, and if things keep going the way they do then the IDF will move into Syria to stop the attakcs, and like always the Arab League can and will do nothing. Israel has the right to protect herself and its people. Thats why the security fence (the wall) is going up, its not like the Berlin Wall, that was to keep demoracy out, the security fence is to keep the suicide bombers out of Israel.

And the US should be allowed in the SC? We bombed citizens in Iraq, our soldiers have killed and wounded civilians, and for what?

If those types of things were reasons to keep nations out of the SC, there would be few members indeed.

Just because Israel is our ally doesn't mean that its enemies shouldn't be on the council.

We don't go after civilians, they do, yes some get caught in the cross fire, but they are not the intended target. Suicide Bombers go directly to civilians, thats why there are many checkpoints and tight travel restrictions. They target civilians on a bus, supermarkets, dance clubs, shopping malls, and even hotels were people gather for passover, these terrorist use to get loads of cash from Saddam, so Israel sends the message, if you resort to suicide terrorism, then your family will lose their home, gives them somthing to think about on their way to collect their 72 virgins.

When you bomb a major metropolitan area like Baghdad, you cannot possibly be ignorant to the fact that civilians will be killed.

That isn't exactly true. Our military has a long history of mass killings of civilians. That can easily be traced back to the Filipino occupation, where the military was sent in to slaughter civilians "for their own good" to make them compliant. During WW2 the Japanese had offered to surrender before the bombs were dropped. Those offers were ignored, and two cities faced the most destructive weapons ever unleashed. Tokyo, the city, not the military bases around it, were firebombed as well. That's directly attacking civilians in a most disgusting manner. Same was true in Vietnam, which was an attack on the South Vietnamese more than it ever was about North Vietnam. That's why the military was ordered to use chemical weapons (such as Agent Orange and napalm) on South Vietnam but very rarely on the North. Moreover, 6 million Laotian civilians were slaughtered during the war in Vietnam to keep the "bad apple" of communism from spreading.

There are countless more events where the US military was ordered to slaughter civilians. There are even reports that civilian targets were firebombed or straight up bombed during the last campaign against Iraq. Even if you discount that, look to all of the cluster bombs used, many of which do not explode on contact and become free range explosives in civilian areas. And then there is DU, which turns attacked lands into nuclear wastefields. Perhaps not directly attacking civilians, but the long term threats to civilians are very well known.
