| legally starved to death?
i thought this was intersting. this woman sustained brain inuries like 10 years ago and has been in a care facility since then. she can't move very much, but she reacts to family members and simple requests, like "open your eyes." however, her husband, who controls all her medical treatment, will recieve all her medical inusrance money should she die, has been engaged to another woman for the past 7 years, and withholds all medical info from his wife's family has gotten permission from a florida court to have her taken off her feeding tubes on august 25th, thus leaving her to die of starvation. what do you think? http://www.terrisfight.org/ |

I took the time to read through the site and I think the situation is absolutely horrifying. It's pretty obvious her husband beat her into the state that she's in and is scared she could recover enough to implicate him. It's also obvious he wants her dead so he can inherit her money. The whole thing is really sad.

I don't understand how the husband has gotten away with not allowing her any recovery therapy all these years. There are pictures on the site that show her awake and alert. She is obviously not brain-dead. I don't understand what is wrong with this Judge Greer asshole either. How can he ORDER someones lifeline to be cut? Jesus, I'm glad I don't live in Florida. It is completely obvious that he wants her to die so that he and his new wife (well, fiance til Terri dies) and kid can have her money. I thought at first that, if he didn't want the responsibility of dealing with her, then why didn't he divorce her and turn her care over to her parents? But it's that money. What's left of $750,000 of which hes probably squandered away anyway. That guy is a sick bastard. Someone's life for $750 grand. It's not that much money compared to the life of a human being. Did you see the pic of her when she was younger? HERE '80s hair and clothes, but you can tell she was really pretty. This just makes me sick. *edit* You can go to the What can you do section of th site and sign the petition to the governor of Florida HERE.

Yeah, Judge Greer needs to be featured in one of those America's Ten Worst Judges articles. He sounds like a complete prick. I mean, what kind of judge actually ADMITS he didn't even look at the evidence or read 6 out of 7 of the doctor's reports, especially when they all said she could be further rehabilitated and her quality of life greatly improved? Some people *really* shouldn't be judges. |

funny that JEB keeps saying that he cant do anything about the situation. he cant even pronounce her last name correctly; jsut shows you how close he has been paying attention to the situation. if she passes there will be more to follow im sure.

![]() | i thought this was an anorexia thread
but its really about euthanasia i think if a person doesn't automatically rehabilitate within 6 months after being put on life support, they should have the tubes removed & the switch flipped. *do not recussitate * i know that sounds mean, but we need a standard. 10 years for a woman to vegetate is ridiculous. her family should have begun petitioning the state 6 months after she was injured so that they could start the rehabilition she needed to rejoin the living. her husband's shady motivations & possible involvement in her injury should be sufficient for the judge to allow the family to b involved or take over her care. if it was one of my family members i'd have to call jack kevorkian & ask him to help me transport her safely home so we could continue her treatment (jack doesn't just help ppl die, he should go back to "kidnapping" to improve rehabilitation) so sad u can't trust the one u love to not murder u

I agree that the family should definately be given control over her rehabilitation since the husband has never even attempted to get her any kind of rehabilitative therapy. She does not appear to be in a vegetative state and can breathe on her own. She just cannot feed herself. According to some of the doctor's reports, however, it is possible that she could receive therapy that would allow her to swallow food, thus completely negating the need for life support. This has been suggested to her husband in the past but he wouldn't fork over her money to have the necessary testing done. 6 of the doctors that have evaluated her agree that her quality of life could be greatly improved by therapy. It's obvious the husband is withholding the opportunity from her because he wants the $750,000 allocated to her medical expenses. If she were to improve, he could no longer argue she's a vegetable.
