i'm really suffering with the question of when does defense become aggression? u can't arm yourself to avoid conflict, but at least u are safe. but that security only escalates the conflict itself.

i just can't believe we are supposed to sacrifice our lives & security in the hopes that the aggressor will learn from our death that his action was wrong. i just can't believe that the intelligent should roll over based on principle & let the foolish destroy us.

i heard that if u carry a gun u will eventually get cocky & do something foolish. don't know if i believe that or not. in theory u shouldn't have to use it if no one jumps u. an intelligent person won't let anyone know the gun is there unless absolutely necessary.

the bigger man walks away, but then he gets shot in the back & then how does he make the world a better place? how does he protect his children with a principal that couldn't save his life?

i was raised by conservative NRA ppl, but for over a decade i'v been a tree hugging pacifist. i'm losing my faith & am wondering wondering if there is a middle ground. i need find my footing before i fall down & get hurt.

The operative word in there is faith. You either believe the worst in people and prepare accordingly, or think the best of them and hope you are correct.

i have faith that most ppl are essentially good, but i realize there are bad guys out there as a realist.


knowing that i throw parties in some of the worst neighborhoods in this city, i realize there is a strong concentration of dangerous strangers there.

i don't want to stop going to bad neighborhoods, they are best for what we do.

is it wrong for me to be prepared to defend myself going in?




btw... i grew up in oak cliff so i'm not the type to freak over small stuff & shoot someone asking for directions.

the best defense is an explosive offense.

It becomes agression when you use more force than necessary to defend yourself.

Defending yourself and rolling over are 2 different issues.

People who have grown up with guns understanding the seriousness of their use and know gun safety probably won't do so. People who get cocky because they own a gun probably shouldn't.

Well, I guess you really can't. But advocating violence against violence only perpetuates the problem.

I disagree. There is one area in this town that seems to be highly dangerous late at night and that is ellum. There is so much more to this city than deep ellum

i remember 10 years ago i went to a party in an alleyway over by southside. it was before raves were a word. the police rolled up while the sound was being set up. they warned us that it was a bad neighborhood & our sound might get stolen.

the promoter & the guy that owned the sound both revealed their defenses after the police drove away.

not going out like a bitch they said.

the police didn't shut us down cause they had more important things to worry about like armed robberies, hookers & crackheads. they didn't care about a bunch of suburban kids dancing in an alley minding their own business.
