![]() | MADD Turns Us Down
I had contacted MADD a week or so ago, discussing the public safety/drunk driving issue of the campaign against the revocation of the late night permits. I asked for support, and to no surprise, MADD turned us down. This is the response I received: "I'm sorry, but I don't think MADD would want to get involved with this effort--on either side. We have to remain focused on our mission--to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. The only statement we would make is that bars/establishments should not over-serve and get people intoxicated--no matter whether it's 2 am or 4 am closing time. " No surprise, really. MADD, like the ACLU, has a habit of being neutral on any issue until they feel like success has been secured by those who put the workload in first. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

![]() | that was a brilliant idea
too bad they couldn't see how giving the drunks a place to sober up relates to preventing drunk driving.
