| kimbell art museum: the quest for immortality (treasures of ancient egypt)
ireally didnt know where to put this . but i didnt want to stick it in useless cause there wasnt any drunks, or midgets, or any anal sex going on so i stuck it in here instead... in hopes that maybe somebody would read it. i went and saw the quest for immortality at the museum yesterday. it was, to say the least, amazing in every way that it could be. i walked in and just stared at all those wonderful beautiful egyptian treasures. i saw the coffin of paduamen, it was disected to show the inner lid. i saw the resurrection of osiris statue (hes the god of the underworld known for his curved beard). we saw king tuts head. it was about 6 ft. tall and they said originally that it was made 500 years before he was born. i learned alot about all the symbolism they use... like scarab beetles and falcon heads, alligator bodys, cats, and cobras. lotus flowers and about heiroglyphics. they even had a tomb.. complete with a small man made river to take you to the afterlife. i was totally enamored about all this before but even more so now. if you can get out today i urge you to go. the museum closes at 5 today and its only 16 $ to see it with the audio tour (little headphones that tell you in detail about the piece that you are looking at. info about museum/show i also went to the science and history museum to see the 9/11 smithsonian exhibit.....very very cool. they have beams from the towers that you can touch. all kinds of home video shot right at the time the planes hit. people who survived donated alot of stuff, kids, adults, and lots of people in new york donated things that they found. it focuses alot on the pentagon too. i just thought it was something that was going to be in our history books from here on out and i wanted to see it. its pretty interesting. info about 9/11 exhibit |
