![]() | Our wonderful president...
ON TAX CUTS: George Bush: "The tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes...Americans will keep, this year, an average of almost $1,000 more of their own money." The Truth: Nearly half of all taxpayers get less than $100. And 31% of all taxpayers get nothing at all. ON JOBS: George Bush: "Our first goal is...an economy that grows fast enough to employ every man and woman who seeks a job." The Truth: Bush is the first President since Hoover to preside over an economy that has lost jobs, not created them - more than 2.9 million since 2001. ON THE ENVIRONMENT: George Bush: "[My] Clear Skies legislation...mandates a 70% cut in air pollution from power plants over the next 15 years." The Truth: The Bush plan will allow more than 100,000 additional premature deaths by 2020 than alternative legislation developed by the Environmental Protection Agency. The plan does not regulate carbon emissions and allows far more sulfur and mercury emissions. ON EDUCATION: George Bush: "[W]e achieved historic education reform - which must now be carried out in every school and in every classroom." The Truth: Bush cut $8 billion from the promised funds for education. |

![]() | George Bush: "The tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes...Americans will keep, this year, an average of almost $1,000 more of their own money." The Truth: Nearly half of all taxpayers get less than $100. And 31% of all taxpayers get nothing at all. again.. that half of all taxpayers get back the percentage of what they pay in in taxes.. 31% of all taxpayers pay nothing in income tax. the other HALF pay's 96% of ALL INCOME TAXES. ON JOBS: George Bush: "Our first goal is...an economy that grows fast enough to employ every man and woman who seeks a job." The Truth: Bush is the first President since Hoover to preside over an economy that has lost jobs, not created them - more than 2.9 million since 2001. again, this economy slump was given to him by the clinton administration.... ON EDUCATION: George Bush: "[W]e achieved historic education reform - which must now be carried out in every school and in every classroom." The Truth: Bush cut $8 billion from the promised funds for education. this is nothing but lies.... bush has funded education more than any other president.. he let ted kennedy write the education bill for christ sake.. but, if you would do your research, when it comes to education, money should not even be an issue.. its discipline.. and in today's school's what we do lack is the proper teaching methods.. kids today know more about sex than they do english, math, literature and science.. |

Great Bushism from bfp. If 31% of all taxpayers pay nothing in income tax, how are they taxpayers? We really don't need to go down this 96% income tax road. The simplest answer to that is that the half that pays 96% also earn almost an equivalent percentage of all income earned annually. Secondly, the number is far, far lower than 31% of income earners who are not paying taxes. That's absurd and unproven. Quote:

technically, that's the way that it's supposed to be... BUT... that is not reality. many small business, (family owned, etc), often times write out manual paychecks. they dont have wells fargo or any other monster bank cut their checks for them. therefore, it is up to the employees at tax time to report all their earnings and pay their taxes in full- in one lump sum in spring. often times, people dont file... the irs, behemoth that it is, cant catch every single evader every year, so sometimes people go unnoticed for years, even decades. i assume you have a job? u remember when u fill out the w2 or i9? you have an option of the govt withholding your taxes at each paycheck or paying out in a lump sum at tax time... some people choose to pay out at one time, then never file. again, the same problem as above. then u have the bazillions of service industry workers who get paid in tips. anyone who has ever worked in the service industry knows that noone reports 100% of their tips. they get paid jack hourly, so little shows up on their paychecks. the irs keeps tryin to come up with some way to catch this, buts its so rampant and almost impossible to prove in the cash tip arena. there are other examples of people evading taxes, including the use of sizable donations to charities to lower taxes on mega-high incomes. these are just all that i can think of right now.

Then those people aren't going to show up in those figures. Quote:

i just wanted to inform superkool that not everyone who gets a paycheck gets taxed... or more appropriately... pays their taxes. hence: employed americans that dont pay taxes. i was not actually referring to any numerical figure.
