| An Open Challenge To The Forum
ok, heres the name of the game. I have posted a politcally, religiously charged news item. one that is strongly debateable. now, here is the challenge. i want to see this item debated without any sort of personal insults, verbal abuse, use of the terms "facist" "nazi" "agenda" and "propaganda" the looser of the challenge will be the first one who sinks to these levels. link here |

haha, cute you little newcommer to our little house of love. im serious about this folks. this forum is often reduced to the level of third graders within three posts. no constructive debate occurs here just name calling and a recital of the same statements over and over. i want to see if we can actually have an adult conversation here. |

The General Should be reprimanded for his comments. Military figures will make off comments about adversaries, but it's the context of the comments that brings more seriousness to this issue. Bush, as the official representative of the United States, made a statement saying the general does not reflect the views of the U.S. His quick criticism of the Prime Minister, the official representative of Malaysia, is justified. Bush did not make the off comment the General did and made the statement that it goes against the views of the United States. The Malaysian PM made his statement as a figurehead for Malaysia.

Can I ask you a question? What evidence have you ever seen that adults have conversations that are any different from three year olds? TV? The printed press? The Internet? In person debates? Near as I can tell, this idea of a calm, gentle exchange of ideas in a forthright and intelligent manner is a myth. I think when we were all three year olds we just thought that adults handled things in a more intelligent manner. Hah. We could not have been more wrong. You really want to see what the fuck is wrong with American society? Go to a little kid's baseball or soccer game and watch the parents. That will explain everything. | |

I believe that critical words directed at the Lt.General were justified in that the General's comments may have been perceived as being American policy. His comments did not accurately reflect American policy. Leaders of nations making comments like this: Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that "Jews rule the world by proxy." Are even more irresponsible. A general does not speak for his nation in the same way a PM does. |

Perhaps it is this mentality that is the problem with America. The failure of social moderism at the whims of negative extremists. * pushes the button *

reprimanded my ass.... the general's statement's were taken out of context... the media is having a field day w/ this one. the general was indeed talking about extremists looking up to an idol, not a god. the media stated that the general was speaking about a war against islam, he was not. |

I suppose you were there I think canning him would send a good message, but it's probably not the just thing to do. However, that hasn't stopped this admin yet. I'm not holding my breath though, because I know Absolut Bush wouldn't do that. |

oviously being against organized religion, I'm not really into anyone making silly comments about Satan, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. Should he be fired probably so, but if we were always doing the right thing, well then Boykin wouldn't be in central asia in the first place. The whole war on terrorism is basically based on his idea, obviously nothing to do with an imagined Satan, but based on the fact that muslims are the enemy. That of course is a debatable statement as well, and whether or not that's the reason the war on terror started, those are the results. All this rhetoric about liberating these people and trying to install democracy abroad (when we don't even have it here, what a joke), it's not fooling me... The US is out to take our Latin American policy of exploiting laborers and gutting countries for all they're worth, and turning it global. In that context, Boykin's statement's are actually helpful to the government in some ways. If you think our leaders give a rats ass what Mohammed Shmoe thinks about us, think again. |
