lets have an abortion discussion

so lemme give u my take
I do not personally agree w/ abortion.
I also don't agree w/ taking away the persons right to make that decision.
so am I pro choice?
yes
I don't feel I have the right to impose my morals upon others
so when soemone approaches me w/ a question like "Well what if rape was legal? Would you still feel that it isn't your right to impose your morals upon people that partake in rape?"
at which I would say
"thats a completely rediculous way of approaching the argument but
From a sociallogical standpoint you can view what is and what is not accepted in our society by social norms. Rape IS NOT an accepted social norm. Abortion has statistically been an accepted social norm throughout human history. Also if rape was legal I doubt than any of our social norms would have any basis in what you believe at present. The world would be completely different and I seriously doubt abortion would be the first of your concerns. at which they would respond: "Does that make it right then?" Me: Yes. Society dictates what is wrong and right. Social norms are a general conscencus of the people. The views of far right or left ideologists in a society are quite literally never representative of the people. Also our society should not be dictated my false writings. at which they would reply"you are going to hell me: I don't believe in hell. nor Satan. I don't really think I can get much worst than this. but have a splendid day

The world is over populated as it is.

I do not believe in bringing a child into this world unless I am fully prepared to provide for it emotionally, spiritually, mentally, monetarily, etc...

Abortion is a deeply personal decision, and one that I strongly believe should be left up to the two ppl involved.

I think people who desperately want / need abortions will ultimately get them anyways, regardless of what trimester the pregnancy is in. It would be logical to preserve their legal right to do this to prevent messy and dangerous "black market" abortions.

I am also personally against abortion, and also, at this point, do not want the right taken away. I think whether or not it is truly wrong will never be known, but personally I feel it is. I just doesn't seem right.

Please, let's not have another abortion discussion. It's been done to death and all our past ones are still archived here.
If anyone wants to know my views on it go read my posts in our other abortion discussions.

I doubt abortion has ever been accepted without misgivings. Certainly aborting children and even leaving children to die has been a method of both population control as well as survival. But I doubt at any point these acts were viewed with anything other than dread. So - as far as it being practiced historicly - you are right - but how well accepted it has been is debatable.

The views of the extremes (right or left) are not, "quite literally never representative of the people." They are too - extremists merely represent extreme positions - that doesn't mean that these views aren't shared - they simply don't have a lot of company.

What can't get worse? Your life or life in the US? If you want to see worse take a look at life in any of a wide selection of impoverished nations or nations ruled by totalitarian dictators - say Cuba.
