I like how Haliburton tried to cover it up by blaming their subsidary, Kellogg, Brown & Root, as a "subcontractor" responsible for the overcharge. Right. This isn't the first time Haliburton has been accused of trying to gouge the government on contracts.

Are you guys fantisized with Halliburton because you think there is a link between them and the bush administration? The past few presidents used Halliburton as well, not just the Bush Administration. Yes, including the Clinton/Gore administration. I think this Halliburton craze isn't all it's cracked up to be. As for overcharging, I think it's a little too early to tell what really happened. |

Im afraid you guys dont understand the implications of all these huge contracts on the US military. Despite this war, a large number of soldiers dont actually do thier jobs. You see, contractors do a large number of "common" jobs in the army even in peacetime. Haliburton a.k.a Brown and Root, is merely the largest of these groups. In Iraq and Kuwait, the MP's dont pull gate security for the large facilities. Its contracted out to security firms like Whackenhut. These guys make like 80-100 grand a year to stand there for the most part and never really see any danger. Meanwhile that junior enlisted MP is making 17 grand a year cause hes not having to pay taxes in the combat zone, is out patrolling the shity streets of Iraq, getting killed in combat zones. Long ago the military actually had port soldiers. They did all the work of dck workers to unload ships when they moved. Nowdays dock workers do all the work for three times the pay, and there are no more dock workers for the army. The army has a huge Quartermaster corps who doesnt do anything really anymore. Their job these days are really to count thier stuff continuously while buying what they need and the army doesnt provide with government credit cards. The huge warehouses full of food and ammo and supplies........all run by contractors, the army guys just drive to go pick it up. Construction units do nothing but sit around most of the time. 90% of all construction on military bases in the world and in Kuwait is done by contractors. These construction soldiers litterally dont know thier job because they hardly ever do the job. They cant build anything to keep busy cause thiers no money..... Yes the military does have a large collection of communication soldiers. And yes a good number of them are computer guys. But, so much of the computer stuff is contracted out to compter firms, that the army guys merely are operators and dont do much else other than show guys how to use power point. The use of contractors in the military is the reason why thier budget is so high. Its not the new tanks or soldiers benifits, its the insane prices they pay to the contractors. |

Cheney is rarely ever seen or heard from nor is he ever questioned about the goings on about the Haliburton connection. All I see is a bunch of Fat Rich White men getting richer, while us Middle Class and lower are getting F**'ed without lube.

then get out there and do something about it. it will not be handed to you on a silver platter. you have the choice to get off of your ass and make something of yourself. whether or not you do it, is another story. | |
