After sending my father the contents of the latest Bush spending bill, he forwarded this to me this morning:

Dear Senator,
I have always voted Republican and have communicated with you frequently. I have given as much as I could to the GOP in years past but now NO MORE.
While I support the war in Iraq--I have a son there--there is NO way I am voting for Bush in the next election. I will sit at home! I can't tell you how furious I am about the drug bill give away--that my children and grandchildren will have to pay for--his recent budget that includes $50 million for an indoor rainforest in Iowa? etc., etc. How can you justify throwing your principles away to support this man when he is now the biggest spender since Franklin Delano Roosevelt? Bill Clinton seems so conservative now.
I just heard that they have to cut 6000 screeners for airport security, but Bush signed a bill that pays $2 million for the "First Tee Program" to get kids into golf? And now Tom Ridge wants another give away to illegal aliens? We can just send them back to Mexico and they can keep drawing Social Security?
I am going to work VERY hard against ANYONE who signed off on that spending bill. What in the world happened to the GOP?????????
Sincerely,
William **********

I must say, I am proud of him for actually sticking to his principles, though I generally disagree with him. People need to stand up for what they believe in, not whore themselves out to the political parties and make excuses for every bad move the politicians make.
