It's too early to tell, but this doesn't hurt Bush's chances.

If pitted against Dean, Bush might have a pretty good chance of victory... I would say a chance of getting Bush out of office is to pit him against somebody like Lieberman or Clark...

yes, how come he's received the support of no former Army Brass, Bill Clinton, Clinton's Sec'y of Defense, etc? I respect the man's intellect - he's brilliant. I respect that he's served the military. I respect that's he been a good family man. Why was he such an early supporter of GW if hes a Dem?

His early support of GW would definitely be a good campaign tool...

Clark sure went a long way to help orchestrate it then. It is a matter of public record that Clark is a recent converso to the Democratic Party and has taken heat from Democrats on the issue - not from Republicans - that his adoption of the Democratic cloak is less than sincere. This is much the same as the character and inegrity issue.* So don't blame "the government," blame the field of Democratic nominees. *Asked about his former subordinate, his NATO Supreme Commander General Wesley Clark, Shelton said, "I will tell you the reason he came out of Europe early had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. I'm not going to say whether I'm a Republican or a Democrat. I'll just say Wes won't get my vote." Soldiers are generally loathe to speak out in opposition to another like this in public. To me it speaks volumes that Clark has no support from his former military and defense dept. colleagues. When asked about being "fired" from NATO Clark saifd he wasn't fired. He offered that he was asked to retire early. Tomato to-mah-to. He was forced out. His attempt to finely shave the term of his ouster came across to me as insincere, needlessly avute and corny. If the guy had said that he had policy issues with senoir brass over the method of continuing the war and he lost - I would have respected that. It would have shown him as honest and willing to take a stand for what he believed in - he chose not to do so. Made me think Shelton was on target.
