Ok, I'm not normally inclined towards conspiracy theories, but one thing about this whole Saddam Hussein capture thing struck me as weird. When the war started he was clean shaven, but he was captured with that huge-ass Charlie Manson style beard. He was only on the run for nine months, so is that enough time to grow a beard that long?

I don't want to jump to any conclusions here, but it seems to me that it's way too long for the amount of time he's been in hiding. Any thoughts on the matter?

9 months is a a long enough time for a beard to grow. espically if the person is naturally Hairy which in this case I think he is.

I have an Arab friend that looks like he hasn't shaved in two weeks by 5:00 in the afternoon. Nine months is plenty of time to grow that beard. Anyway, they have DNA evidence proving it's him. This one is pretty conclusive.

Incidentally, before I head about the news, I logged on to some news site, and the headline was something like "We Got Him." Before I read the details and just saw the photo, I thought for a moment they had arrested Fidel Castro.

One other thing. They were never able to confirm the date on the Saddam videos when the war started. Chances are, he was probably already trying to disguise himself and hide out before the war ever started.

Cool, that makes sense. He had all those body doubles running around so I thought they might have nabbed one of them, but I hadn't heard about the DNA evidence.

Yeah... my dad's beard gets that long in two weeks!!

I wonder if they had to hold him down and shave him or if they thought it was safe enough to give him his own bic?? And did he choose to keep the moustache or did they tell him he had to shave it that way for positive ID.

I can grow a beard half that length in 9 months. I can go a few days without shaving before I look horrible, so I would say for a hairy arab guy, he probably could have trimmed it a few times and still had it that long, lol.

Their beards grow fast!

I had an aquaintence in high school who had to wear a beard and turban as part of his religion. We all laughed our asses off when our speech teacher tried to tell him he couldn't come to her class until he shaved and took off his turban. This is the same teacher that parks in the handicapped spot because she had a nervous breakdown after her divorce. Yes, that's the kind of people teaching the youth of America.
