The left doesn't want a black person that is working for a high position to be on the 'right' side of the political spectrum. It would diminish their base and perhaps take away millions of their votes.

the left and the right are merely the most vocal. the average person (the silent majority) would prefer a conservative black...less of a Jessie Jackson and more of a Colin Powell. Leftist Blacks scare the average person, they see them as to reactionary.
