It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said. "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

To Miles, the obvious solution to this kind of problem was for the DJs to stop playing rap music. Never mind that it was hip-hop music that brought all of these regular customers to the club in the first place.

To him, this wasn't a security issue, it was a music programming solution. In his mind, it was on the DJs to make sure the patrons behaved appropriately. Makes sense, right? Never mind the security staff or hired policemen out in the parking lot, it makes perfect sense to hold...

Who Stole the Soul?

The Slip Inn is a blink-and-you-miss-it dive bar located at the corner of Henderson and McMillan in East Dallas.

For years it was a favorite of neighborhood locals and the service industry crowd. It opened at seven in the morning and was a great place to catch a soap opera with your afternoon cocktail. It was the only place to be first thing in the morning on New Year's Day....
