apple G4 tower mirror doors

anyone know how much one of these will go for
specs below

duel 1.42 ppc g4
2mb l3 cache per processor
1.5 gig ddr ram
ati radeon 9000 pro
dvd burner
all the other basic shit

plus the g4 17 inch monitor included

ive done some searching on the net but cant find much

maybe around 800. The monitor wont get you much.

I really have no idea...that is just a guess....look on ebay.

the dual 1.0 runs about 899$ new still, so $800 for a used 1.42 sounds about right.

how long have you had it? If its not more than a year or so old, you could probably get another $100 for it.

They havent made those machines in over 4 years. They are solid but the G5's pretty much outdated the G4's. I doubt that you could get more than $400 for it unless you have done some major upgrades. With a G5 upgrade card, two gigs of ram, and a new graphics card (about $300 investment) it might be worth over $800 to someone.

CRT monitors are pretty much worthless in the re-sale market. If its not LCD or Plasma flat screen the shipping costs more than its worth. Most re-sellers have entire rooms full of CRT monitors that they give out for free with any purchase.

I should point out tho that is one of the best models that Apple has put out. I have been using mine at home daily for 4+ years and it still hangs with current gen hardware. With a G5 upgrade card, and a nice graphics card Im able to run the latest OSX, and ALL curent software with no preformance issues whatsoever. Since apple was ahead of the curve with Firewire, and USB 2.0 in those machines they are also compatable with all current cameras/scanners/mdi controllers etc.

For the price you just cant beat the mirrored door dual processor G4's.

I know that they havent been manufactured in 4 years, however, you do realize that many resellers stocked up on them, and have yet to sell out.

If they bought a bunch, and they have been sitting in their storage not being run, then they are still new, which is what I was getting at. If someone has been running it for 4 years, then the HD is probably gonna shit the bed sometime soon, whereas thats not the case with a "new" one

50% or more of those have already had the HD swaped out, the 60 gig drives they shiped with arent big enough to be usefull. Besides with HD's running less than $0.75 a gig I wouldnt think that a "new" outdated HD is much of a selling point.

My G4 is on its 4th HD, I upgrade annually I just swaped out my 400gig for a 600 gig a couple weeks ago.
