i would personally recommend getting the cdj 200s. they have the same pitch granularity as the 1000s, but are about $600 less... unless you're looking to use the "vinyl" mode, which the 200s don't have....

Agreed, unless you must have the vinyl setting. The 200's play mp3's, too.

the 1000mk3s have wave readouts, hot cues, saving cues, saving loops, mp3 ready and (my personal fav) SD memory so you can take your cues/loops to any other unit.

if you really are going to use the full potential of a 1000 then there is no comparison.

if you are just going to mix some cds then the 200s are the best value.

Very true. I was just giving a basic breakdown, the jog wheel is way better on the CDJ 1000's, as well. I just use them for basic mixing and use the effects on my mixer, but if you want to play like Carl Cox, then you need the 1000's.
