there is a little plastic frame thing that my mother used to use that would keep the shape of the hat and then she would throw it in with the rest of the laundry

make sure when you put it in the dishwasher you don`t just put it in with a bunch of dirty dishes. That's a good way to ruin a perfectly good hat. Not that i know from experience or anything
