| 2x BFG 8800 gtx oc
Stock oc'ed and cooling, bought both same day about 5 months about. Moving up to gtx 280's so buy my ish! $175 each or $300 a pair picks them up. Will have all connections and I THINK I have a disk still but I suggest downloading the latest drivers as they have changed a lot in 5 months.

I dont get it. you can buy a 9800 gtx for less than 200$. they may not be faster but the chips are smaller and produce less heat. ...but what I understand even less is 2 8800 gtx is like: 2 x 86.4 (GB/s) x 90 % = 155.5 (GB/s) and the GTX 280 is 141.7 (GB/s) so technically your current setup is faster, and it better for the new physix drivers because you can split the duty. you should wait for the dia shrunk 280, IMO. |

What?! you serious? (guess that's been asked lol) 1.The gtx's for one are pci-e 1.0 vs the vastly faster pci-e 2.0 2.The gtx's are 768MB vs the 280's 1GB 3. ONE 280 out performs two gtx's simply because pci-e 2.0 and 2 280's is just uncalled for power. All that probably doesn't help a sale but a lot of people( here especially) have not upped to a 2.0 board and if they have they can't afford the 280's. At $300 the pair there isn't enough if a difference to drop another $150 for one 280. I have three gtx's and ones an evga which allows me to use the step up program to a 280. Selling these two will fit most the bill for the 2nd 280 and then I will be supreme commander of my domain lol. Plus it will save me about $200 buck in water cooling not having the 3rd card.

This is the info I'm using. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...Force_8_series You also lose 10% per SLI. I think thats direct from nvidia. so tripple SLI and its 80% of the total. Looks like your cards SLI are faster to me. I would still keep one of your 8800s because you can use it as a dedicated physics card. It doesn't have to be a 280, they can work independantly. |

Here, I put them together for you. Maybe you are not looking at the two at the same time is throwing you off. the 280 beats the 8800 by a long shot almost across the board. Take a 2nd look at fillrate, notice Mega vs Giga? Add to it that pci-e 2.0 is literally 2x the speed of 1.0 Also, the 280 is 65nm technology so it is easier to OC due to it staying cooler. Again, lol, these are great cards and make mince meat out of Crysis I am just building up a Water rig and figured I might make it something I am going to keep for awhile. 2 280's will kill anything coming out in the next 8 months.

Ahh I though you said you were not going to SLI the 280. Thats just madness. You must have a huge monitor for SLI 280. I still say 2 of your old card is better than 1x280, but you won't need to keep on of the old ones if you sli 280 for physics. Quote:
Well, hope you cards sell, sorry to crap on your thread. | |

Nah, about 3 post in a figured no one would buy them. I just posted here as an alternative, I got some bites over at the OC forums and slizone and if I want them gone today I'll throw them on craigslist. I love a good computer discussion though or I would have deleted the thread yesterday. A guy over at slizone benchmarked his 280 and it was doing better than my 2x gtx's. Those numbers above are just specs not real life. Although it's what you should expect it doesn't account for tons of factors. PCI-E 2.0 is just hands down better in any shape or form.
