I have a problem with one of my pc's and dont know how to correct it.

It switches on and powers up but nothing comes on my screen..

So if anyone knows anything along those lines..it could be anything literally.I bought a new motherboard to put in if needed but i am no computer buff so i dont want to go there.

So if anyone knows something or could help leave a comment or text me your number as ill pay for the help...

does your monitor get a signal even if it's all black?

if your monitor is plugged in and you get no signal when the pc comes on then that limits it to either your monitor or your video card/driver. you can determine this by connecting your monitor to another pc or testing another monitor out on your pc.

I have 3 pcs and 3 monitors.I tested the monitors,so i know its not that either.I think its the video card to and had a friend have a look at it and he was stumped to.I think i really need someone to just reassemble it for me.

You need to demagnetize your hard drive. The video card is picking up magnetic interference from your HD. Place a couple strong magnets on top of your HD while your pc is turned on. This will solve the problem and it's cheap.

That's so wrong.....

It may be the proc, memory or video card. No-POST's are hard to troubleshoot if the motherboard doesn't give you an alarm when one of those has failed. Usually you just have to start replacing them with spares till you get it to post.

How do you know it's powering up? is your drive spinning? Does this board have onboard video? If so can you switch to that and load up? Can you take a card from another pc and drop it in?

3 pc's you should be able to knock out a lot of our questions even as a novice. If you are not showing a post then it's the board or card OR power supply not getting enough to the board or card.

If you see nothing from power on forward then the hdd isn't even a factor so don't be a retard and demagnetize it(for shame people). Your board should at least post before it even looks at drives.

Another issue might be a bad stick of ram. take it/them out and test that out. If multiple, try one at a time, if solo try new ram. You rig can't be that new I assume since you don't know too much about pc's so RAM won't cost more that $35-40 and worst case you upgrade your ram anyways. Never a bad thing.

PM if you need something else, I don't get up this way a lot.

Don't listen to the bullshitters that are trying to get you to spend that hurt ka-ka-ka-kash. Just shove a few Mr. Jims magnets on that harddrive after you turn it on and then reboot. I just did this last year and it worked like a charm!

I used to work for a computer company, me and a partner could take a look at it free of charge then go from there.

When you turn your computer on, does it beep? If so how many beeps? are they long or short? Do the fans spin? Can you hear the HD tick or spin up?

I suspect its the CPU. Any one that builds comps and replace it pretty easy. Chips run anywhere from 50$ to hundreds depending on speed.
