Help! MAC repair. cracked/broken - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Ok here is my situation.

I have a 17 inch MAC book pro which I bought back in 2007.

After a year I started to see a tiny crack on the bottom right corner of the screen. So I tend to ignore it, thought it wasn't anything big. I mean WTH it was just a minor crack. More time passes by and suddenly left side corner did the same. Still, I continued to ignore it, More time flows by and crap my freaking screen just snaps of THE LOGIC BOARD. Meaning I can hold the screen with my right hand and the rest of the computer with my left.

Dude I was so out of it. Sucked my apple care recently expired. There charging me $1,700 for repairs. Come on... I can easily buy a new one, I seriously need help. Does anyone know someone that is a MAC specialists? Someone who can work on my frame and possibility the LOGIC BOARD as well. If you do please let me know.

why did you wait till after the warranty to get it fixed???

So you're saying the clam shell itself is damaged at the hinge? If I can get the parts and the service manual I can do this.

I wish I had access to ordering apple parts so I can help you guys. But unfortunately I currently don't. I think someone on here said they worked at a shop that serviced macs. Can't remember who it was.

I dont service Macs but if you get me the part numbers I can contact a few of my suppliers and see if they have the parts.

Alright Dorian, get those parts and one of us will fix it for ya. We're going to want something for our time so you'll have to check the cost of parts and see if it's even worth it for you. I fix laptops for a living but our macs get serviced under apple care. But it's all basically the same parts on the inside so it's nothing alien unlike what people would have you think. Hollar if that's what you wanna do.

If you need the logic board replaced buy a new macbook as you will wind up spending about the same amount as one of the new macbook pro's. I'm mac certified however have changed jobs since and dont have access to the gsx

Best place to get your mac worked on if it's not a mac store/genious is called Pro Computing.

Seriously. Look those prices up cause I'm sure they're going to be more than what you think and I doubt it'd be worth it.

Its hard to figure out if your logic board actually needs to be replaced by the descripition you are giving.

But if it is the actual logic board. It would be better to buy a new macbook.

Off the wall mac repair question. Evidently one drunken night at the club I somehow knocked the backspace button off my MBP. I have the key but how the hell do I get it back on? I tried for awhile but gave up. Thanks ahead of time!

It's really easy - just line up the key and give it a few swift taps with a hammer. It should slip back into it's seat pretty easily. If it doesn't go at first, hit it a little harder.
