Hey everyone, I am looking to learn how to DJ just for fun, maybe something more serious down the road, but mainly because it looks fun and I like listening to mixed songs, so I thought why not mix some of my own (I use Acid Pro 7 but that doesn't do everything I want).

Anyway, anyone know who to talk to?

This is our first event in the DFW metroplex and we think its gonna be awesome!!! We just moved down from tha WEST SIIIEEED so we want to see how the South does it. And End: The DJ look totally wicked cool though I don't know much about the whole INDUSTRIAL thing. Which is why were totally psyched!!! Anyone else coming? Yeah can't wait.

Hey all,

Just interested to know if there are any oldschoolers here that knew Joe Ortega. He went by RollinJoe back in the day, but posted most recently as just 'Joe'.

He was an old party buddy of mine, and I just heard some horrible news this weekend.

Joe and I kept in contact over the years and I would call him every few months to see how he was doing, catch up, etc... I called his house looking for him, and his mother (bless her heart) got very upset and was saying he was gone. I found out thru his brother that he died in March of a methadone overdose. I couldn't believe it had been that long since I talked to him.. and I sure didn't expect to hear that he was gone..

My dear friend Joe. He was so young.. I feel so bad, and my heart goes out to his family and those of you that knew him.

New to DDM, intoduction

Hey all, my name's Brian.

I'm new to DDM, but have been around the Dallas electronica scene for a couple years now. I frequent Lizard Lounge about once a month, and try and make it out to any and all big events. If you've been to LL, you've probably either met or seen me, as my girlfriend works as one of the dancers there and she tends to get just a bit of attention. :P I'm that guy that dances like no one's watching, yet is one of the few sober folks around.

I was first dragged out there by a couple friends of mine, Carson Montgomery and Josh Rhea. Carson is now a resident DJ at an uptown bar called Cretia's where he spins hiphop mashups and is a great partier who really knows how to get down with the crowd. Its a great bar if you're into the uptown scene as well, go pay him a visit on Saturday nights and tell him I sent ya, you might just score a free drink out of it! He's currently pursuing a gig at Plush and has worked at various high-end department stores around here doing similar music, despite an affinity towards electro-house. Josh owns a fairly high-end setup and has thrown together some top-notch mixes, but current family/work situations have prevented him from spreading his skills at the decks to the masses. It will happen though.

Mostly an electro fan myself, but good trance is enticing and good dubstep just plain rocks. Listening to a set of CD's that Dave Aude mailed me today at the moment, and next on my playlist is some of Titan's older DnB mixes, so I'm at least a little diverse.

I'm somewhat dedicated to this scene though. Made it out to Austin for Starkillers last year, Houston for Deadmau5 this March, Los Angeles for Klaas/Roger Shah/etc. (because we THOUGHT he'd never come to Dallas and Germany was a bit pricey haha!), Las Vegas for Deadmau5 again... and well, am more than willing to travel for a good show. So if you're ever looking for a buddy to go with on a far away trip for a big rave, I'm your man. :)

Oh, and if you just so happened to be in attendance to the Fall Meltdown 2008 (and you remember your night!), I was the guy with the plaid pajama pants with 600 glowsticks sewn on. Never in my life have I had to take so many pictures with so many people, wow.

So anyways, there's my long-winded "Hello!" to everyone here at DDM. Happy raving people!
