What
Burning Flipside is a regional art and music festival inspired by Burning Man. It is a place for radical self expression and an experiment in temporary community building. It is a place of acceptance, inclusivity, and respect. It is organized entirely by volunteers. The art and entertainment is created solely by participants. There are no spectators. No cash transactions are permited at Flipside. Even bartering is discouraged. There are no concession stands. This is a sincere experiment in creating a gift economy. If you need something, ask for it. If you have it, gift it! There are no garbage cans. Participants pack out their garbage. This is a Leave No Trace event.

When
Flipside is held from Thursday, May 26th through Monday, May 30th, 2005. Entrance is between 10am and midnight on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. On Sunday, no one will be allowed to enter after 6pm. The Burn is held sometime after dark on Sunday.

Where
Recreation Plantation is a 40 acre campground in the Texas Hill Country, near the town of Dripping Springs, which is about 45 minutes from Austin. Maps and directions.

Tickets
Ticket Orders must be post marked on February 28th, March 1st or 2nd. More info.

Survival Guide
The Survival Guide contains everything you need to know to have a safe and fun experience. You will not be allowed to enter the event until you've answered a few random questions, derived from the Survival Guide, at the Greeter Station.

2005 Theme
The 2005 theme, "Innergalactic Circus", was chosen by democratic process at a Town Hall meeting of the community in Austin.

Participate
Almost every aspect of Burning Flipside is made possible or organized by volunteers. Everyone who attends Flipside is automatically a participant. Many participants create art, performances, and/or theme camps and in addition take advantage of the dozens of volunteer opportunities. One of the most visible feats of volunteerism in 2004 was the 35 foot Monkey effigy on this front page created by DAFT volunteers. Working together makes our accomplishments even more fun and fulfilling than they otherwise would be. It is also a great way to meet people! Information about volunteer opportunities.

I am part of Wonderlounge and I'll have my Mackie system and lights out there as well.

Last two years we were camped in the woods near the bathrooms but I hear they may move us this year...

Last year we had David Starfire in our camp and were one of the only camps I heard playing breaks but we aren't really tied to 1 genre or the other and weren't to big with schedules if someone wanted to play and asked nice we let them as long as they knew what they were doing.

Otherwise I had a PCDJ system on autopilot a lot of the time

Hope to see some more Dallas people out there, I wish the burner community in Dallas was more active throuought the year.
