Dublex INC. and Dutch Rhythm Combo June 17

Dublex Inc. and Felix Haaksman from Dutch Rhythm Combo, will be in town for a one night appearance straight outta Stuttgart, Germany.

While most of you probably have never heard of them, these guys truly define the electronic/acoustic fusion sound like no one else. The last album went form funky soul breaks, to electronic flamenco, to tango breaks, and all in between. Their live dj set in Miami was amazing, when they went from mid tempo funky breaks to full on chunky house, and faster funky breaks, ala' Catskills, Tru Thoughts, Jalapeno, Bear Funk, Freerange, and white label Mash Ups.

They are also master graphic designers, with every album cover, sleeve and illustration, uniquely and creatively designed.

here's an older bio of Dublex

It was definitely a blessed day for Stuttgart‘s party crowd when former DJs Robin Hofmann (28), Florian Pflüger (30), Rino Spadavecchia (34) and Felix Stecher (25) got together in the summer of 2000 to host the weekly Thursday night at one of Germany’s most famous venues for innovative electronic music. Not only did those talented boys deliver a fine blend of hip hop with funky tunes, fuelled by sampled sounds and break beats at the so-called “Blowshop“ nights at the “Le Fonque“ club, but very soon they discovered their mutual interests in producing their own ideas within the DJ-Team. “Dublex Inc.“ was born!

With “Collage EP“, their first release (Pauls Musique), including the Brazil club tune “Izquitos“, Dublex Inc. proved that they chose the right path. After this successful debut, showcases on several remixes for bands such as “Freedom Satellite“ or “De Phazz“ followed. With all this work, there was still plenty of energy within the quartet to release the follow-up single “Rhodes Night EP“ (Mole Listening Pearls).

Their next step was to establish PULVER RECORDS, their own label, and to launch their third release: “Tango Forte“. The track with its concise string hook started in position 1 on the German Club Charts (DCC). The single stayed at number 1 for 6 weeks and was in first place through the DCC’s annual “Top 200 Single“ vote. At the time, there weren’t any good club nights in major German cities where a DJ wouldn’t drop “Tango Forte“.

In spite of this huge success, they kept their feet on the ground and concentrated on polishing up their individual “Dublex Inc.” sound, resulting in more remixes and another single release in autumn 2002 on PULVER RECORDS. “Tócame“ - this time a track with a flamenco guitar hook, layered with Spanish vocals. “Tócame” is another example of the various musical talents of these four guys from Stuttgart. “Tócame’s” presence on several compilations, e.g. “Hotel Costes 5“ has mainly contributed to “Dublex Inc.‘s” international recognition, and they are now DJing in clubs all over the world.

Nevertheless, working in the studio is now more important than ever to Robin, Flo, Rino and Felix. While everyone awaits the next single from their forthcoming album, which is due to be released in spring 2004, Dublex Inc. will keep their audience happy with more remixes. Another teaser will be “Pulverising! Digital“. This compilation of PULVER RECORDS “classics“, mixed by Dublex Inc., will be released in October 2003.

In order to know what works on the dance floor the four DJs are still touring clubs almost every week end.
