Christian Zechner Oslo, Norway


Christian Zechner is born and raised in Oslo, Norway.

Music has been his main interest most of his life. When he got a keyboard for his 10th birthday,
he started composing his first melodies. The producing took off a few years later when he bought his first computer and discovered the world of tracking and other musical possibilities a computer can offer.

In June 2002, before his 18th birthday, he was invited to play a live act in front of a few hundred people in Québec City (Canada) as a headliner DJ on the event "Basement III". Things have only went upwards from here.

In September 2003 his very first release saw the light of day as he was featured as a remixer on "The Beach", originally made by Norway's most-selling trance artist ever, "Pacific Blue".

Hotdecks Recordings discovered Christian's talent the summer of 2003 and offered him his first record deal, signing "Mirror World" and "Synchronized" for an EP under the guise "Nephilim", which gained the support of DJ Tiësto (Tiësto In Concert 2), Armin van Buuren (A State Of Trance radio show), Misja
Helsloot, Matt Hardwick, Guy Ornadel and many more. It also made it to 3rd place on the "Tunes Of The Month" list in MixMag, July '04 edition.

Born in Central America and migrating to the U.S. across the country at an early age Gian Carlo grew up in a ecletic lifestyle absorbing various cultures giving him a diverse background in music. Music in general has always been an important part of his life while shaping his sound of today.

His first experience of electronica came to him around 98 when a few friends introduced him to this “underground” type of music which immediately caught his ear and became curious how these sounds were being made and his research began. First chance he got he bought his first set of gear and began to practice. Less than a year Gian started to play out live and never looked back. At that time his hometown in Louisiana was just beginning to bring electronic music into the scene and his first goal was to educate more and more people about this type of music while organizing free small shows and “renegades”.

During this time the scene in New Orleans was blowing up bringing in the many of the world’s biggest headliners in the business. Amazed at all the talent locally and global Gian decided to push further.

Gian Carlo has been Djing around the Southeast part of the country for the last 5 years. Known for his lush but driving progressive sound, Gian has been pushing the tougher side of progressive house/ trance from top producers in the US and the world. His formula for his sound includes techy, dark, tribal, and melodic using hard driving basslines and complex beat patterns . You will find his music to be hypnotic and energizing, beautiful and evil all at the same time. His style ranges from deep progressive house/ trance to techno and breakbeats. A few artists that have had an influence and helped shape his sound include: Satoshie Tomiie, Sander Kleinenberg, Nicholas Bennison, Descent, Chris Cowie(X-Cabs), Sandra Collins, Christopher Lawrence, Roland Klinkenberg, Steve Porter and Thomas Penton.
