Life After DDM (worst case scenario) - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

First, let give a tremendous thank you to Alienswede and everyone else that has been responsible in putting together and maintaining what was dallasraves.org and what is now dallasdancemusic.com. When this domain name changes hands, no matter what happens, it will be the end of an era for the scene in DFW. I would have never gone to see or even heard about the vast majority of the local DJs and shows hat I have experience in the four years I have been reading this site. This site has helped keep me interested in dance music year after year and has affected me in more ways than you could ever imagine. Even when I went off to school in craptastic Lubbock, I would still keep up with the doings that were a transpirin' in DFW through the site. I could leave for months, come back to town, and be immediately plugged back into the scene. So let me just say thank you thank you THANK YOU again to Alienswede and everyone else involved in the site.

All that being said, let's assume a worst case scenario happens. Some tool buys the DDM site and turns either squats on it or turns it into something where we can no longer come here to check out what is going on locally. What next? Where is the next best place to go for information on upcoming DJs in town? Where can I check out pictures of parties? Where can I get Edgeclub playlists? Now, I'm not asking for specific answers to these questions. I'm just simply listing out the wonderful things that DDM has provided to me and countless others over the years that might no longer be readily avliable.

Is there another forum that everyone can migrate to in case DDM becomes a memory? If not, can we start one?

I'm leaving the country for several months at the end of August, but I will be back in DFW in December. My fear is that when I get back, DDM will be no more, I will not be able to find a suitable replacedment site to get my info from, I will not know when any DJs are coming to town, and my wild drinking, smoking, drug devouring, techno bumping days of youth will officially be over!

These doomsday threads about DDM are getting ridiculous.

Second of all, nobody is going to buy it and just let it die. That's just plain retarded. Take just a second to think this one through....

What they are buying is a database full of electronic music fans in the DFW area. So whatever they do with it, I'm pretty sure it will stay related to electronic music in the DFW area. Call me Captain Obvious, but that one's a no-brainer.

Yes, things will change. And it will never be quite the same as the DDM we've all been used to. But the changes won't be as radical as y'all are fearing. That just wouldn't make any sense.

Well of course someone is going to buy it. I'm worried that whoever buys it won't have a forum, calendar, or update it on a regular basis.

More than anything, a domain name is being sold. Sure, there's a likely chance it will stay related to electronic music, but that's why I titled the thread (worst case scenario). Like I said, I'm leaving the country and won't be able to check this site. If it falls into disrepair because of the new owners and everyone jumps ship, I want to know where I should be checking.
