He got his first taste of djing out of town five years ago and started playing steadily around the Midwest. Then after moving to Chicago to take college audio classes he hooked up with long time friend Mike Gillenwater who was in Chicago for the same reason. Together, they started their group “High Caliber” and within a month or two after starting their project together, they had already signed multiple releases to domestic and overseas labels. Since then over fifty of their original songs and remixes have been released on vinyl and more are on the way. Bryan’s music has already been played and charted by pretty much everyone in the industry including Derrick Carter, DJ Dan, Mark Farina, Bad Boy Bill, Paul Van Dyke, Judge Jules, Paul Johnson, Pete Tong, Fergie, DJ Funk, Joey Beltram, and many more. Just recently Bryan has started his solo production career and there will be many releases to show for it in 2005. So far since February, Bryan has worked out deals with many different record labels in the US and overseas for future solo projects. Bryan has also received a lot of press with his productions in his group High Caliber in magazines like URB, DJ Mag, XLR8R, BPM, Big Shot Mag, Nocturnal Magazine, DMA, and countless online reviews and chartings. In fact, High Caliber’s name is in the current issue (March 2005) of URB, BPM, and Big Shot Magazine right now for their new release on DJ Dan’s “Instereo” label. This year Bryan plans to pursue his solo production career and continue with his dj bookings that have already taken him to San Francisco, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Sacramento, Madison, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, and many more. His dj mixes have reached thousands of house fans by means of mix cds, online downloads, and years of promotion. Bryan’s many styles allow him to adapt to any dancefloor without ever disappointing. He has played everywhere from underground deep house clubs to big room all ages events, and his experience shows in every one of his dj sets. FILTER FREQ SAN FRANCISCO, CA (kontrast / in-stereo / ammo / phat & phunkie) Ralph Astar (aka Filter Freq / Dj Frequency) started djing & producing 7 years ago @ the early age of 14 in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Through the years he rocked set after solid set alongside SF's other top house dj/producers like David Garcia, Joey Mazzola, Felipe Avelar, & Reckless Ryan every weekend. From massive 10,000 person festivals, to 21+ deep house clubs, his demand grew as he handed out 1,000's of cds (often laced with original tracks, turntablist tricks, and clean scratching cutz) to San Francisco's large house audience. His mix CD's "Full Throttle" w/ Reckless Ryan & "Illegal Beatz" w/ Felipe Avelar also aired on Wild 94.9's House Nation (Northern California's #1 rated mix show) which exposed his sound to tens of thousands of listeners. In 2002, he began to focus more energy on his music production. After hooking up with Bryan Jones from Chicago's infamous duo High Caliber, the quality of his music began to turn headz & get thumbs up from some of the best house producers & djs in the world like CZR, Joey Beltram, Dave Armstrong, & Granite & Phunk. Then, in 2004 he completed several remix projects for Bryan Cox & Filter Grinder, Angel Alanis & Jon Pegnato, and High Caliber & Paul Anthony, cementing his status as a quality producer. Also in 2004, he formed Kontrast Recordings, a record label who's music has already been getting charted and played by the world biggest and best djs, and got one of his collaborations with High Caliber entitled "Come Together" signed to the world reknowned Dj Dan's record label In-Stereo which is already being touted as 2005 anthem of the year material. What's next you ask? Well, way to much to mention, but some things to keep an eye out for are continued releases by some of the world's hottest producers on his label Kontrast, several of his original and remix projects on some of the best house labels in the world, and his first artist album "Freq Tha System" under the new alias Filter Freq with which he plans to raise the bar in house music and showcase his diverse range as a producer. Having accomplished much in a short time at an early age, Ralph stays focused on the future... BRANDON KAYE: AKA THE FREAKY AFRONAUT INDIANAPOLIS,IN MTBA
